R&D Vehicle Control & Calibration Engineer

Job Role Summary

You will be responsible as an independent yet integral member of a team to design, develop and implement innovative and creative solutions for Vehicle Controls & Strategies, Vehicle Calibration and tunning on Vehicle, Testing, troubleshooting faults and resolving complaints related to Vehicle Control Unit, Motor Control Systems & Components to conform to safety and quality norms.

Key Deliverables and Competencies:

• Hands on experience in Design and Development of various Electric Vehicle components like Vehicle Control Unit & Motor Control Unit (Inverter)
• Complete life cycle design of motor control algorithm, theories, and concepts of Motor Control algorithms like field-oriented control (FOC), maximum torque per ampere (MTPA), field weakening, thermal management and tuning to improvise Vehicle dynamic behaviour.
• Carryout and develop the characterisation of different motors from the supplier and support for performance improvement.
• Domain knowledge of AFT, PMSM, BLDC, IM, SR, Sync Reluctance Motor/Generator design.
• Understanding of different topologies used of Traction Inverter, Power Converter & convert it into the technical requirement to select for proper application.
• Application Software Development for VCU in Autosar ECU Architecture and Control Strategies on vehicle level functional targets.
• Hands on experience in Design and Development of Electronics components including requirement generation (SoR) (Functional description document), analysis, detailing.
• Finalization of calibration files with supplier A2L or equivalent, calibration of powertrain (Motor, Inverter, Battery/ BMS, DC/DC), Charging function (OBC, Fast Charger, BMS), Vehicle functions (Peripherals, Cluster, Infotainment screen), Summer/ Winter/ Altitude calibration (Environmental), Calibration dataset release.
• Hands on experience on calibration on vehicle level to achieve desired performance in terms of grade targets, speed targets, speed torque estimation, efficiency improvement, Regen setting and most of the Electric vehicle performance parameters.
• Working on software sprint release, maintaining the software revisions, communization of the software and final delivery of containerized software.
• Defining and finalizing the Diagnostic Strategies for the Vehicle. Vehicle level and component level CAN Matric Finalization and dbc release for VCU and MCU.
• Worked on the various stringed design validation plan for EV Components on component level, system level and vehicle level. Test Case preparation support to testing team.
• Understand the EV Vehicle Architecture & Work on the Design & Development of E&E Aggregates.
• Selecting systems to meet the homologation requirement of EMI & EMC on the system and vehicle levels; further diagnosis and resolution if problem arises.
• Participate in the DFMEA/DFM/DFA/DFS activity for ongoing projects and optimize the designs accordingly and to ensure the resolution of manufacturing, assembly, and serviceability issues.
• Preparation on Functional description document and Logic building as per ECU Feature list.
• Defining the Design Validation Plan (DVP) and acceptance criteria for the systems at component and vehicle level. Discussion with supplier and different internal agencies to sign off the DVP.
• Good Understanding of Functional Safety ISO 26262 & Cyber Security as ISO 21434, ASPICE which needs to be implemented for VCU and MCU.
• Responsible for generating the Test Cases. Automated Test Scripts for New Development ECUs
• Coordinating with internal stake holders for building the prototypes, testing, homologation, and other related activities.
• Working continuously on value engineering proposals for the systems and their components to achieve the cost target.
• Performing activities to ensure the design quality and BOM quality and aid in the product life cycle management for the designated systems.
• Ability to establish a systematic course of action for self or others to ensure successful project completion including determining priorities and allocating time and resources effectively.
• Ability to achieve results against an internal and external standard of excellence, showing a passion for improving the delivery of services with a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Ability to manage complex task by breaking it down into manageable parts in a systematic way, work logically to resolve problems and further identifies causes and anticipate implications.
• Anticipating potential obstacles and developing contingency plans to overcome them.
• Generates novel and valuable ideas and uses these ideas to develop new or improved processes, methods, systems, products, or services.
• Possesses strong technical knowledge to provide sound and insightful recommendations in area of expertise.
• First time right & accuracy in design E-Powertrain Components Like MCU, VCU etc.
• Defining the system level Specification for E-Powertrain components considering Software standards (like MAAB, ASPICE), Safety Standards like ISO26262, Security Standard like ISO 21434.
• Accurate Characterization, Calibration, Fine tuning to achieve desired performance on vehicle & release the final calibration dataset for production.
• Adherence to project timelines and targets

Qualification and Work Experience

• B.E /B Tech (Electrical/ Electronics)
• M.E /M- Tech (Electrical/ Electronics) or Power Electronics & Drives or Control System.
• Work Experience Total 5-7 years of experience in the industry, Preferred Industry Experience Automobile and Auto Ancillary companies.
• Experience in Electrical Vehicle Components like Vehicle control Unit and Motor Control and Strategies.Preferred Technical Skills and Certification
• Domain Knowledge of E-Powertrain and components.
• Vehicle Control Unit, Motor Control & Strategy.
• Hands on INCA, CANalyzer, Canoe, CAN Experience.
• Characterization Motor & Calibration Fine Tuning.
• Understanding of Electrical Vehicle System
