Job Description :

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Elasticsearch Engineer to lead the migration of search services from Swift Type to Elasticsearch for a client with over 400 sites serving customers globally.

The role involves configuring, optimizing, and managing Elasticsearch clusters in a fully-managed cloud environment while ensuring a smooth transition from Swift Type.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design search solutions, implement advanced security features, and integrate Elasticsearch into existing systems.

Key Responsibilities :

- Migration Planning and Execution : Migrate from SwiftType to Elasticsearch, including data transfer, search configuration, and user experience adjustments to ensure a seamless transition.

- Cluster Configuration and Optimization : Deploy, configure, and tune Elasticsearch clusters on managed cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) for optimal performance and scalability.

- Integration and Customization : Work with development teams to integrate Elasticsearch with existing applications, ensuring that search functionality meets business requirements.

- Data Ingestion and Pipeline Management : Implement and manage data ingestion pipelines to ensure smooth data flow from various sources into Elasticsearch.

- Monitoring and Troubleshooting : Utilize monitoring tools (e., Kibana, CloudWatch, Stackdriver) to track performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize Elasticsearch queries.

- Security Management : Implement and manage security measures including role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and compliance with global standards such as GDPR and HIPAA.

- Scaling and Resource Management : Monitor and adjust cluster resources based on usage patterns and business needs to ensure efficient scaling and cost management.

- Backup and Restore Management : Configure and manage backup schedules, and oversee data restoration processes as needed.

- Cost Management : Work with Elastic to leverage any cloud commit agreements and optimize costs associated with Elasticsearch usage.

- Client and Stakeholder Communication : Collaborate with client stakeholders to ensure their requirements are met during and after the migration, providing support and training as necessary.

Required Skills :

- Proven experience with migrating search services from SwiftType (any other relevant search engine) to Elasticsearch.

- Strong experience with managed Elasticsearch services on cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.

- Expertise in Elasticsearch architecture, including index management, shard allocation, and query optimization.

- Proficiency in data ingestion tools such as Logstash, Beats, or cloud-native alternatives.

- Knowledge of advanced security features, including encryption, RBAC, and compliance with global standards.

- Experience with cloud infrastructure, monitoring, and logging tools (e., CloudWatch, Stackdriver, Azure Monitor).

- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to optimize Elasticsearch clusters for performance and reliability.

- Strong scripting skills with Java (mandatory), Python,

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with specific cloud services like AWS Elasticsearch Service,

- Knowledge of search relevance tuning and full-text search optimization in a cloud setting.

- Experience working with global clients and understanding their unique search requirements.

- Certification in Elasticsearch or relevant cloud certification

Educational Requirements :

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
