Job Description

Company Overview:

The Patil Group is a leading industrial conglomerate with diverse business interests. Over the years Patil Group played its part in tiding over the transition from Concrete Sleepers to now to Composite Sleepers. Each phase adding another milestone in its quest for exploring new possibilities and making innovative products.

Position Title: Head Legal(GM/Sr GM Level).

Location: Hyderabad, Corporate Office/ Open for PAN India Travelling.

Education: Graduate in LLB/LLM (Master's degree in law preferred).

Experience: Minimum 20+ years of relevant experience.

Industry: Infrastructure sector with mandatory expertise in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts.

Detailed Job Description:

Contract Management Draft, review, and finalize legal documents, including:

- Contracts.

- Agreements (vendor, client, and joint ventures).

- Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs).

- Legal letters and notices.

- Oversee the monitoring and compliance of legal obligations under executed contracts and agreements.

- Collaborate with internal teams (procurement, project management, finance) to ensure contracts align with business objectives and legal standards.

Litigation & Arbitration:

- Develop and implement strategies for managing arbitration cases and court litigation, including civil, criminal, and writ petitions.

- Represent the company's interests in legal disputes and arbitration proceedings, coordinating closely with external legal counsel.

- Manage recovery-related court cases, company petitions, and other legal matters involving external and internal stakeholders.

- Ensure timely filing and defence of claims, appeals, and legal documentation.

- Legal Advisory & Risk Management Provide expert legal advice to senior management on:.

Regulatory compliance:

- Potential legal implications of business strategies.

Contractual obligations and risks:

- Conduct legal risk assessments to identify exposure during tendering, contract negotiations, and project execution.

- Offer solutions to mitigate legal and commercial risks while ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.

Compliance & Governance:

- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations affecting the company's operations.

- Develop and maintain robust legal policies, procedures, and governance frameworks to support business processes.

- Proactively monitor regulatory changes and advise the organization on compliance requirements.

Dispute Resolution & Negotiation:

- Study and interpret contract agreements to identify potential areas of dispute.

- Lead resolution efforts for contractual disputes through mediation, arbitration, or legal proceedings.

- Negotiate amicable settlements and resolutions to avoid prolonged litigation wherever possible.

Team Leadership & Coordination:

- Build and manage a high-performing legal team to support organizational needs.

- Coordinate with external advocates, law firms, and legal consultants for specialized legal matters.

- Liaise with internal departments to align legal initiatives with business goals.

Desired Skills & Competencies:

- Strong knowledge of EPC contracts, regulatory frameworks, and arbitration procedures.

- Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills.

- Proven ability to manage high-stakes litigation and legal advisory functions effectively.

- Strategic thinker with a problem-solving mindset and a keen eye for detail.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders.

- Experience in handling complex multi-jurisdictional legal issues is a plus.

- Accuracy and timeliness in drafting and reviewing legal documents.

- Success rate in litigation/arbitration cases.

- Effectiveness in legal risk management and compliance.

- Timeliness in dispute resolution and settlements.

Additional Requirements:

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Willingness to work in different environments and conduct fieldwork as needed.

- Hindi speaking & PAN India travel is mandatory(if required).
