Role & responsibilities

• Managing the department An OT manager may be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a department or multiple sites. They may also be involved in recruitment, staff rostering, and ensuring that staff are deployed equitably across programs.
• Maintaining standards An OT manager is responsible for maintaining high standards and ensuring that the department operates effectively and efficiently. They may also be responsible for ensuring that the department complies with quality standards and procedures.
• Providing leadership An OT manager provides professional leadership to the team, and may offer advice on procedures and perioperative care. They may also motivate and develop their team through mentorship and setting objectives.
• Developing the department An OT manager may participate in research projects and research-based practice to help develop the department.
• Supporting the team An OT manager may provide technical support to the team, such as troubleshooting process problems and identifying areas for improvement.
• Maintaining equipment An OT manager may be responsible for maintaining and managing equipment, including ensuring that damaged equipment is repaired.
• Preparing patients An OT manager may be responsible for preparing patients for operative procedures.
• Managing waste An OT manager may be responsible for managing hazardous waste and ensuring that biomedical waste is disposed of in accordance with protocols.
