Job Title : OT Incharge
Work Timing : Rotational Shifts

Experience : 7 - 12 Years (With Valid Nursing Licence in Tamil Nadu)
Location : Nungambakkam, Chennai.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operational Management:
  
• Supervise the daily functioning of the operating theatres, ensuring that they are set up and ready for scheduled surgeries.
• Ensure the availability of all required surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for operations.
• Monitor the sterilization process of surgical tools and maintain compliance with infection control protocols.
• Ensure adherence to surgery scheduling and coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to ensure smooth workflow.
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and safety within the operating theatre

• Staff Management and Training:
  
• Supervise and manage OT nursing and support staff, ensuring proper staffing levels for each procedure.
• Organize training programs and continuous education for OT staff on new procedures, technology, and infection control protocols.
• Provide leadership and support to OT nurses, assisting them in both technical and operational issues.
• Perform staff performance evaluations and ensure professional development opportunities.
• Patient Safety and Care:
  
• Ensure that patient safety is prioritized in the operating theatre, adhering to the latest clinical guidelines and protocols.
• Oversee the monitoring of patients during surgeries, ensuring anesthetic and vital signs are properly managed.
• Ensure the correct patient, surgical site, and procedure are confirmed prior to surgery (the "time-out" process).
• Ensure that all patient records and documentation, including surgical reports and consent forms, are accurately completed.
• Inventory and Equipment Management:
  
• Oversee the inventory management of surgical instruments and supplies, including tracking usage, replenishment, and disposal.
• Ensure that all operating theatre equipment is maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition.
• Coordinate with suppliers and procurement teams to ensure the timely purchase of medical equipment and supplies.
• Compliance and Safety Standards:
  
• Ensure that all activities within the operating theatre comply with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Enforce infection control policies and procedures to reduce the risk of surgical site infections.
• Maintain records of cleaning and sterilization schedules, and regularly audit practices to ensure compliance.
• Communication and Coordination:
  
• Serve as the point of contact for surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical professionals in the OT environment.
• Ensure effective communication between surgical teams, medical departments, and administrative staff.
• Prepare reports on OT performance, incidents, and issues for management review.
• Coordinate with other hospital departments, such as the pharmacy, housekeeping, and administration, to ensure smooth operations.
• Budgeting and Resource Allocation:
  
• Monitor OT expenditures, ensuring that resources are used efficiently and within budget.
• Assist in the planning and budgeting for new equipment, facilities, or staff for the operating theatre.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc) or DGNM.
• Licensure: Valid nursing license in Tamil Nadu.
• Skills: Strong clinical skills, Leadership, effective communication, empathy, and teamwork.
