About the Job:
The R&D Head for the Dairy Category is responsible for leading the research and development initiatives within the dairy product portfolio. This role involves creating innovative dairy products, enhancing existing ones, and ensuring alignment with market trends, consumer preferences, and regulatory standards. The position also focuses on sustainable and cost-effective solutions while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibility Areas (KRA):
1. Product Development:
Drive innovation by developing new dairy products, including milk, curd, cheese, paneer, yogurt, smoothies, and high-protein variants.
Enhance existing product formulations to improve taste, nutritional value, and shelf life.
Collaborate with marketing and consumer insights teams to identify market needs and opportunities.
2. Research and Innovation:
Explore emerging trends in dairy technology, sustainable practices, and health-focused products.
Research and implement advanced techniques in processing and packaging for better product performance.
Introduce protein-rich and functional dairy products catering to specific dietary needs.
3. Quality and Compliance:
Ensure all products meet Indian and international quality standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address customer feedback and quality improvement initiatives.
4. Team Leadership:
Build and manage a high-performing R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Conduct training sessions to update the team on new technologies and methodologies.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with procurement, manufacturing, and packaging teams to optimize product feasibility and scalability.
Liaise with marketing teams to support product positioning and branding strategies.
6. Budget Management:
Develop and manage the R&D budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Prioritize projects to align with the companys financial and strategic goals.
Qualification and Skills:
Educational Background:
Master's or Ph.D. in Dairy Technology, Food Science, Biotechnology, or related fields.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of dairy processing, formulation, and packaging technologies.
Strong understanding of protein chemistry, fermentation processes, and functional food development.
Familiarity with food safety standards (e.g., FSSAI, ISO, HACCP, Codex).
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Effective communication and presentation skills for cross-functional interactions.
Experience:
A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in the dairy or food R&D sector, with at least 3-4 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record of launching successful dairy or FMCG products in the market.
Experience in working with cross-functional teams and managing large-scale R&D projects.
Exposure to global trends and practices in the dairy industry is preferred.
