Job Description

1. Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to lead a team of Compliance Officers and Senior Compliance Officers to deliver robust, risk based compliance monitoring, in accordance with the Groups Annual Compliance Assurance Plan. The Deputy Team Leader/Team Leader will support the Compliance Assurance Manager in helping to develop, deliver and manage an effective Compliance Assurance Monitoring Team, including managing, coaching and mentoring of direct reports within the Team. In addition, contribute to the achievement of the Group’s business goals in what continues to be, a rapidly changing conduct, regulatory environment and to promote a robust and effective compliance and conduct risk culture within the Bank.

The role is based in Bangalore with occasional travel to the United Kingdom.

2. Core Responsibilities

  • Support the Compliance Assurance Manager in the delivery of the OSBI monitoring activities and in line with the Group Compliance Assurance Plan.
  • Perform MI analysis and root cause to identify customer or business impacting risks for review.
  • Support the team to undertake comprehensive risk based and customer outcomes focussed monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate records ensuring the monitoring data and MI provided to Committees is accurate, relevant and consistent.
  • Communicate comprehensive review findings to respective stakeholders.
  • Maintain knowledge of the internal policies, procedures and changes in business to enable the Team to work effectively.
  • Maintain the company’s compliance standards and ensure timely completion of all mandatory on-line training modules and attestations.
  • Complete any specialist training necessary to maintain knowledge and competency.
  • Participate in constructive, open and effective communication with the Compliance Assurance Leadership Team to deliver improvements and enhancement, ensuring any challenges or obstacles in completing the monitoring are collectively attended to.
  • Work collaboratively with the Monitoring Leadership Team to utilise resource, manage leave/sickness, and reassign activities across the whole Team to ensure completion of the scheduled monitoring.
  • Perform routine quality checks for team members.
  • Draft team goals/objectives and perform Fit to Practice/121s for direct reports.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company’s security policies and procedures.
  • Identify process improvements and ways in which the team can work smarter without comprising on the overall objectives and purpose of routine monitoring.
  • Provide appropriate and thorough training for the team to incorporate systems, associated regulations, skills matrix enabling the Team to perform their duties.
  • Act as an ambassador for the bank’s compliance and conduct risk culture and standards, demonstrating high standards of behaviour at all times.

3. Experience Requirements

  • 3 years’ experience working in a compliance environment preferably with assurance and monitoring skills and within a UK financial services firm is essential.
  • 2 years’ experience of developing and motivating a team.
  • 2 years’ experience working in a direct Team Leader role within a financial services environment.

4. Knowledge Requirements

  • Knowledge of UK retail banking products including savings and mortgage products is essential.
  • Knowledge of UK commercial lending products is desirable.
  • Understand and identify potential risk through different indicators like complaints, business change etc.
  • Knowledge of key changes in the bank/business or external environment that can influence a review & risk identification.
  • Understand and interpret various policies and procedures for review purpose.
  • Knowledge of key FCA handbook requirements applicable to OSB such as MCOB, DISP, BCOB, SYSC etc.
  • Ability to interpret the FCA handbook and other critical regulatory areas is essential.

5. Skill and Competency Requirements

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyse and interpret information.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication, listening and writing skills.
  • Excellent time management with the ability to plan and prioritise your workload in an organised way in order to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to think and work independently with good decision making skills.
  • Ability to identify key improvements.
  • Ability to encourage, support and motivate the team.

6. Required Qualifications/Certifications

  • Graduation in any stream is essential.
  • A financial industry certification (examples are CeMAP, CISI GFC, and ICA) is essential

7. Responsibilities re Information Security Management System (as per ISO 27001 Certification Requirements)

  • Ensure strict adherence to company’s security policies and procedures (for ex: Password policy, clear screen and clear desk policy, etc.).
  • Take ownership of all the assets/information assigned and secure it in compliance with ISO 27001 standard implemented in the company.
  • Co-operate and co-ordinate for the internal audits conducted in the company (complying to ISO 27001 standard).
  • Report to the Incident Response Manager, any incidents you come across in the office with regard to Security threats like threats to physical asset & stored information or any risks detrimental to the Security Policies of the company, etc.
  • Responsible to supervise in ensuring that all personnel reporting to you shall observe all Security requirements and be appropriately trained in Security.
