The Opportunity

Nutanix Database Service (NDB) is a DBaaS (Database as a Service) product for on-premise Nutanix customers. The product is expanding to a Hybrid Multi Cloud Solution with a scalable architecture. The NDB engineering team is distributed across India, the US, and Serbia. As we plan to scale NDB Engineering for the next generation product and build a world-class engineering organization, we are looking for a Principal Engineer for the India site. About the Team

As a potential job applicant, you will be excited to join the Nutanix Database Service (NDB) team, a collaborative group consisting of talented professionals located in both India and the US. You will report to the Director of Engineering, who is dedicated to supporting your professional growth and providing guidance to help you succeed within the team. At Nutanix, we offer a hybrid work setup, requiring employees to be in the office for 2-3 days a week, allowing for a balance between collaborative in-person interactions and remote work flexibility. While the physical office presence is encouraged for team bonding and collaboration, we understand the importance of work-life balance and provide the option to work remotely when needed.

Your Role

• Drive the design for scalable, modular, and extensible components and define future technical vision for the product.
• Develop a deep understanding of customer use cases and design innovative solutions for customer requirements.
• Work closely with tech leads, engineers, and product management to deliver high-quality features in a fast-paced environment.
• Work closely with the UX team to provide a simple and delightful experience for customers.
• Collaborate with other product architects at Nutanix and ensure alignment with the overall Nutanix vision.
• Write whitepapers and blogs, file patents, represent Nutanix in external seminars.
• Coach/Mentor Staff Engineers in the team to enable them to grow to the next level.

What You Will Bring

• Experience working with and building on hybrid multi-cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience working with databases is a plus (Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Experience in one or more of the following languages: Java, Go, Python.
• Familiarity with containers and Kubernetes.
• Experience developing storage, networking, and virtualization products.
• Product development experience of 8+years.
• Qualifications and Experience of a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field are required.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science preferred. Experience of years developing highly scalable and available software.
