Role Overview

As the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading a large pool of Software Engineers and Solution Architects, driving the development of our Fintech/ Insurtech products. You will oversee the technical strategy and implementation of solutions built on Microsoft .NET technologies, frontend frameworks like React.js, and databases such as MS SQL Server, Oracle and MongoDB. This role requires strategic leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for building high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management:

• Define and implement the overall technical vision and architecture for our software products, staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a large team of Software Engineers and Solution Architects.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Set clear objectives, performance goals, and professional development plans for team members.

Technical Strategy & Execution:

• Define and drive the technical vision and roadmap in alignment with business goals.
• Oversee the architecture, design, and development of scalable, secure, and high-performance Fintech products.
• Ensure adherence to best practices in software development, architecture, and DevOps.
• Develop budget and staffing plans to build high performance, multi-functional teams with expertise necessary to achieve development objectives.
• Monitor key performance metrics and identify areas for improvement in development processes, code quality, and system performance.

Technology Oversight:

• Lead the adoption and implementation of Microsoft .NET technologies, including .NET Core and ASP.NET.
• Drive frontend development using React.js and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Ensure optimal use of database technologies such as MS SQL Server and MongoDB for data storage and retrieval.
• Advocate for continuous learning and staying updated with emerging technologies in the Fintech / Insurtech domains.

Project & Stakeholder Management:

• Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, operations, and sales, to align technical execution with overall business objectives.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
• Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks associated with software development, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.

Quality Assurance & Security:

• Establish and enforce quality assurance processes including code reviews, testing standards and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
• Ensure the security and compliance of all products with industry standards and regulations.
• Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks.

Qualifications and Skills

Education & Experience:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record of delivering scalable and secure software products in the Fintech or Insurtech or related industries.

Technical Expertise:

• A strong foundation in software architecture and system design, with the ability to evaluate and influence key technical decisions across product and engineering teams.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft .NET technologies, including .NET Core, .Net Frameworks, .Net Core Microservices, ASP.NET, and C#.
• Strong knowledge of frontend frameworks such as HTML5, React, NextJS and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Deep understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with database technologies like MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Google/Azure/AWS), Dockers, Kubernetes, Prometheus / Grafana, ELK stack / Splunk, Serverless, NoSQL and Elasticsearch.
