AR work is characterised by its detailed and complex nature in order to systematically combine existing knowledge and practices to further developing and incrementally improving products, operational processes, and customer-specific feature development.

Subfamily DescriptionSoftware (SWA) comprises the definition, specification, and allocation of requirements from different sources utilising knowledge of systems engineering processes (specification & architecture). Contains processing of use case and feature requirements into conceptual models, operational scenarios, technical requirements, and functional description. Covers specification, design, implementation, and unit testing of Software (e.g. device drivers, microcode, hardware-related software & firmware) according to the requirements and architecture defined in the systems engineering process. Covers establishment and maintenance of Software Configuration Management (SCM) practices into software development projects, continuously building and integrating infrastructure tools and systems.

Key Skills and Experience:

O-RAN Knowledge:

• In-depth understanding of O-RAN architecture, especially SMO (Service Management and Orchestration).
• Familiarity with RAN and core network protocols, including 4G/5G technologies.

Software Integration:

• Experience in integrating telecom software solutions, especially in cloud-native environments.
• Proficiency in working with Kubernetes, OpenStack, or other virtualization technologies.

Automation and Scripting:

• Hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Ansible, Python, or Shell scripting.
• Experience in network function virtualization and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).

Tools and Platforms:

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitLab.
• Experience with monitoring and orchestration tools like ONAP (Open Network Automation Platform).

Problem Solving and Troubleshooting:

• Strong skills in diagnosing issues related to network functions, configurations, and deployments.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, testing, and customer support.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborative mindset to work in a multi-vendor ecosystem.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related fields.
• 10 - 20 years of experience in telecom network deployment, with specific experience in O-RAN or similar domains.

Responsibilities:

Deployment and Integration:

• Install and configure O-RAN SMO components in the telecom infrastructure.
• Integrate SMO with existing network elements like the Radio Access Network (RAN), core networks, and other O-RAN components.
• Ensure seamless end-to-end integration of SMO solutions with network orchestration platforms.

Testing and Validation:

• Conduct performance, functionality, and interoperability testing to validate O-RAN components' integration.
• Troubleshoot and resolve deployment and integration issues, collaborating with multiple vendors and teams.
• Ensure compliance with O-RAN specifications and standards.

Automation and Orchestration:

• Implement network automation tools, including zero-touch provisioning and self-healing systems.
• Develop and optimize workflows for dynamic network slicing and resource allocation.

Customer Support:

• Provide post-deployment support, working closely with customers to resolve technical issues.
• Interface with customer teams for feedback and continuous improvement of O-RAN systems.

Documentation:

• Prepare technical documentation, including integration guides, troubleshooting steps, and standard operating procedures.
• Document network configurations, test plans, and results.
