Accountant

Role & responsibilities

Project Costing:

• Monitor and track expenses for individual construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
• Allocate costs accurately to different project phases and components.
• Prepare detailed project budget reports and variance analysis.

Invoice Processing:

• Review and verify invoices from subcontractors and vendors for accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
• Process payments to subcontractors and vendors in a timely manner.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies and billing disputes efficiently.

Financial Reporting:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide management with insightful financial reports to support strategic decision-making.

Account Reconciliation:

• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances to ensure accuracy.
• Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up on overdue payments.

Payroll Management:

• Review and process employee payroll, including timecards, deductions, and tax withholdings.
• Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and timely disbursement of salaries.

Compliance and Auditing:

• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards
• Assist with internal and external audits as required.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets and track financial performance.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts to anticipate future financial needs and optimize resource allocation.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or other relevant certification (preferred but not required).
• 3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP systems).
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial analysis tools.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
