Job Description
- Working Hours for Article Clerks:
- Article clerks (interns) can work a maximum of 35 hours per week (excluding lunch breaks).
- If article clerks work extra hours, they should be given compensatory leave (comp off), or their next week s working hours can be reduced to balance out the extra hours worked.
- Fair Treatment:
- Principals (CAs supervising articles) must ensure that article clerks are treated fairly, with appropriate working hours, and that they are not overburdened, following ICAI s regulations to maintain a balance between work and learning.
- ICAI Leave Policy:
- Articles have a leave entitlement of 1/6th of the total duration of their articleship period.
- If additional leave is taken, it must be compensated with extended work hours or through other arrangements.
