News Corp is looking for an iOS Engineer to join our innovative technology department. This role will be expected to collaborate with our team leads and cross-functional businesses to create and deploy native iOS applications.

News Corp has a global platform that already powers 25+ apps and we are adding more. This role will have the opportunity to influence products across different industries. This role will also be involved in open source projects to showcase their own passions and involvement in technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with talented engineers for the technical development and delivery of elegant and intuitive app features across development teams, partnering with business stakeholders, QE teams, and other geographically dispersed engineering teams.

Provide technical leadership in evaluation, conceptualization, design and development of small features

Participate in the breakdown of stories into technical design, implementation tasks, sprint planning and other scrum ceremonies.

Leverage agile methodology concepts for quality, delivery and continuous improvement.

Ensure that expected performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications is achieved

Help maintain code quality, organization, and continuous integration

Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs

Excellent written and verbal communication skills: presenting, documenting, troubleshooting.

Demonstrable experience authoring developer documentation (tutorials, blog posts, docs).

The ability to be self-directed and be effective working independently, yet feel equally comfortable contributing in a global team environment.

Qualifications:

Computer Science Degree or a related Engineering field with strong engineering foundation

2-5 years iOS development experience and familiarity with Apple frameworks

2-5 years of professional experience developing consumer-facing iOS applications using Swift.

Experience with RESTful APIs and JSON to connect iOS applications to back-end services

Experience in Swift, related modern iOS frameworks like MVVM, VIPER.

Experience developing, delivering, and supporting native iOS applications by integrating REST APIs, push notifications and multithreaded experiences.

Solid foundation around software engineering fundamentals, object-oriented programming, standard iOS architectures and design patterns.

Knowledge of iOS UI/UX standards

Deep understanding of multi-threading, memory management, networking, caching, performance optimization, localization of mobile applications.

Experience with modern build strategies, continuous integration, unit testing, test driven development, static analysis, and automated integration tests

Experience with third-party dependency management such as Cocoapods and SPM is helpful

Experience with open-source or internal open-source projects is helpful

Experience with using Firebase (Crashlytics, remote config, app distributions) in Android apps
