BESS Engineer

We are looking for a BESS Engineer for a global renewable energy solutions provider.

Job Profile:
Examining load profiles and energy consumption patterns to comprehend the energy requirements of the project.
Crafting appropriate Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to align with project objectives.
Devising BESS layouts and configurations based on technical specifications and project limitations.
Profound understanding of various parameters for battery design, selection, and sizing, optimizing battery sizes effectively.
Conducting system modeling and simulation to evaluate the performance, efficiency, and reliability of BESS designs using tools like MATLAB, ETAP, and HOMER.
Generating preliminary and detailed design reports.
Developing system Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and selecting battery components and equipment according to project standards.
Engaging with domestic and international vendors, soliciting techno-commercial proposals related to BESS.
Performing techno-commercial assessments and selecting suitable technologies in accordance with project standards.
Keeping abreast of industry trends, advancements in battery technology, and regulatory requirements pertaining to energy storage.
Creating battery container layouts and collaborating with electrical, civil, and PV engineering teams for comprehensive installation packages.
Drafting single-line and three-line diagrams with necessary electrical details for the battery system, complying with local codes.
Designing AC Coupled and DC Coupled Battery Energy Storage systems.
Designing various types of battery enclosure solutions and identifying energy conservation opportunities associated with different enclosure systems.
Understanding different Battery Energy Storage System configurations, chemistry selection, and conducting performance modeling and lifetime estimation simulations.
Familiarity with various applications of battery systems such as power smoothing, ancillary services, and peak shifting, determining battery profiles and dispatch optimization for different applications.
Modeling energy storage system performance, coordinating the integration of Battery Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), and Supervisory
Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) designs.
Knowledge of designing Hybrid Renewable Energy sources, especially Solar and Wind, and experience in designing power generation mixes for microgrid/hybrid power systems.
Assessing design factors including function, durability, performance, efficiency, and contractual requirements.
Overseeing technical due diligence from initial screening to turnover to the project management group for implementation.
Conducting value engineering, engineering studies, detailed estimates, cost analysis, and as-built designs.
Profound knowledge of fundamental aspects and main characteristics of current battery technologies, relating them to battery parameters.
Deep understanding of Bi-directional inverter operation, control, and integration with battery systems, with familiarity in DC/DC converter operation and some experience in designing or modeling power conversion devices being advantageous.
Hands-on experience with software such as MATLAB, HOMER, and ETAP.
Comprehensive knowledge of the latest standards on design, testing, and validations including IEC 62933, UL9540A, NFPA 855, UL 1973, and IEC 62619.
Understanding of utility grid interconnection standards such as UL/IEEE standards, IS, and European grid codes.

Requirements:
A bachelor s degree in electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems, renewable energy, and/or sustainable energy technology is preferred.
At least 6 years of hands-on experience in Renewable Energy Systems such as Solar PV, Battery Storage, and Wind Energy Systems.
Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in conceptualizing and executing detailed designs, simulations, and/or deployments of BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems).
Familiarity with power system simulation tools such as ETAP, or similar software, and/or microgrid and hybrid energy system simulation tools like Homer Pro and Homer Grid is desirable.
Proven project management abilities and experience in diverse international settings.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with a track record of building strong client relationships and identifying new business prospects.
Preferably, proficiency in the following software: HOMER , ETAP-Battery Sizing Software, MATLAB
