Electrical Engineer - Smart Meters

We are looking to hire smart and dynamic Electrical Engineers involved in the construction of smart meter projects in Maharashtra who have experience in the following areas

• Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider (AMISP) Projects
• Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) Projects
• Rural Electrification Projects

Electrical Engineers will be responsible for designing, overseeing the installation, distribution and ensuring the proper functionality of smart meter systems, including the electrical components, communication protocols, and data management aspects, while adhering to relevant safety standards and regulations at all stages of the project.

Job Location: For our Project Site(s) in Maharashtra.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Design and Engineering:

• Analyzing site requirements and developing detailed electrical designs for smart meter installations, including wiring diagrams, power supply layouts, and communication network architecture.
• Creating electrical schematics and designs for new research equipment, prototypes, and systems, considering safety and security factors.
• Possessing deep knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including circuit analysis, power systems, control systems, and embedded systems.
• Proficient in using electrical design software and simulation tools to optimize designs.
• Analyzing power requirements and selecting appropriate components for optimal performance and reliability.
• Incorporating safety features like fault detection, overload protection, and emergency shutdown mechanisms into designs.
• Selecting appropriate smart meter models based on power consumption needs, communication protocols, and data reporting capabilities.
• Designing and specifying necessary infrastructure components like transformers, distribution panels, and communication relays.
• Ensuring compliance with electrical codes and standards throughout the design process.

Installation and Testing:

• Managing the installation process by coordinating with contractors, supervising the installation of smart meters and associated equipment on site.
• Inspecting installation quality, ensuring proper wiring, grounding, and connections to meet safety standards.
• Troubleshooting any electrical issues during installation and implementing corrective actions.
• Performing functional testing of smart meters to verify data accuracy and communication functionality.
• Conducting thorough testing on electrical systems and prototypes to ensure they meet functional specifications and safety standards.
• Documenting test results and creating detailed reports for analysis and review.

Risk Mitigation & Compliance with Regulations:

• Performing risk assessments to identify potential hazards within electrical systems and develop mitigation strategies.
• Analyzing safety critical components and systems to ensure redundancy and fail-safe mechanisms are in place.
• Staying updated on relevant electrical safety regulations and standards, including those related to research and development activities.
• Ensuring all electrical designs and implementations comply with applicable regulations.

Data Management and Integration:

• Working with data management systems to ensure seamless integration of smart meter data into utility billing systems.
• Analyzing and interpreting data from smart meters to identify trends and patterns in energy consumption.
• Developing data visualization tools to present energy usage insights to customers.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Working closely with other engineers, and technicians to understand project requirements and integrate electrical systems effectively
• Providing technical support to installation teams and addressing any concerns related to smart meter functionality.
• Communicating technical details clearly and concisely to stakeholders, including project updates and potential risks.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including power systems, AC/DC circuits, and electrical codes.
• Expertise in smart meter technology, communication protocols (e.g., Zigbee, PLC), and data management systems.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical) and data analysis tools.
• Experience with construction project management and site supervision.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse teams.
