Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic IT Head to oversee and manage the Information Technology department at our multispecialty hospital. This role will be responsible for leading and implementing technological solutions that improve operational efficiency, enhance patient care, and ensure data security and privacy, with deep domain knowledge in healthcare IT, software operations, and process integration.

Role & responsibilities

• Develop and execute the hospitals IT strategy in alignment with organizational objectives.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to understand technological needs and devise solutions.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, trends, and regulations in healthcare IT.
• Plan and prioritize IT projects, including system implementations, software upgrades, and integrations, while ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations.
• Monitor the progress of IT projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and meet the required standards.
• Lead the management and optimization of Electronic Health Records (EHR), Patient Management Systems (PMS), Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Pharmacy Management Systems (PMS), and other hospital-specific software tools.
• Ensure seamless integration of hospital software with third-party systems (e.g., laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and billing systems).
• Possess in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry, including regulations, compliance standards (HIPAA, GDPR), and healthcare software systems.
• Ensure the hospitals IT operations comply with all healthcare-specific regulations.
• Provide ongoing support to medical staff in utilizing healthcare technology systems effectively.
• Regularly evaluate software performance and collaborate with vendors to implement necessary upgrades and patches.
• Oversee and manage the hospitals IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, workstations, and telecommunications systems.
• Ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of the hospitals IT systems.
• Implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans for critical IT systems.
• Lead the creation and management of BRDs for new IT projects, ensuring clear articulation of business requirements, technical specifications, and deliverables.
• Work with key stakeholders (medical, administrative, and technical staff) to gather requirements and ensure alignment with hospital goals and objectives.
• Facilitate communication between IT and hospital departments to ensure accurate understanding of technical needs and business priorities.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the IT department, including infrastructure, software operations, and support teams.
• Develop the skill set of the IT team through regular training, performance management, and ongoing development.
• Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment, ensuring all team members understand their roles and contribute effectively to IT initiatives.
• Provide strategic direction for IT projects and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
• Manage relationships with software and hardware vendors, ensuring timely delivery of services and products.
• Oversee contract negotiations, ensuring favourable terms and compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
• Monitor vendor performance, resolve any issues, and work toward long-term strategic partnerships.
• Ensure third-party vendors comply with the hospitals regulatory, security, and operational requirements.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization through technology, ensuring efficient workflows and patient care operations.
• Lead the integration of disparate systems within the hospital, ensuring interoperability across various departments (e.g., pharmacy, radiology, laboratories).
• Implement IT best practices to improve hospital productivity, service delivery, and patient satisfaction.
• Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation for hardware, software, and services.
• Monitor IT expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure optimal resource utilization.
• Provide regular financial performance reports to senior management with data-driven insights.
• Ensure all IT systems and software comply with healthcare security standards, including data encryption, patient confidentiality, and HIPAA regulations.
• Regularly assess potential security vulnerabilities and implement measures to protect sensitive hospital and patient data from cyber threats.
• Implement and maintain disaster recovery plans for IT infrastructure and critical systems.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare IT, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT management, with a strong focus on software operations and leadership within a healthcare environment.
• Expertise in creating and managing Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Extensive experience with hospital IT systems such as EHR, PMS, LIS, RIS, and other healthcare-specific software tools.
• Proven experience in process integration and optimizing operational workflows in a hospital setting.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of successfully managing and developing IT teams.
• Demonstrated experience in vendor management, contract negotiations, and maintaining strong vendor relationships.
• In-depth knowledge of data security, privacy regulations (HIPAA, GDPR), and healthcare IT compliance standards.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Project management experience, with knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, or similar methodologies.
• Experience with cloud-based healthcare solutions and telemedicine platforms.
• Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) applications in healthcare.
• Familiarity with healthcare data analytics and business intelligence tools.
