Hardware Design Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Proficiency in Designing and testing of FPGA
• Design and develop analog , digital, and mixed-signal circuits as part of complex hardware systems.
• Knowledge on PCB Layout and Design.
• Work closely with software engineers to integrate hardware components with firmware, including the design and testing of interfaces between FPGA systems, Raspberry Pi, and communication protocols like MIL-STD-1553.
• Develop and test systems that communicate using the MIL-STD-1553 bus.
• Ensure proper signal integrity, communication timing, and compliance with industry standards. Design and develop hardware that interfaces with Raspberry Pi for embedded system solutions. Assist in the development of drivers and firmware to support integration with other hardware components.
• Build prototypes, conduct functional testing, and iterate on designs to validate hardware performance against specifications.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for FPGA designs, circuit schematics, test plans, test reports, system integration procedures, and QAP documents.
• Work with cross-functional teams including software, systems engineering, and manufacturing to ensure successful product delivery and high-quality hardware designs.
• Debug and resolve complex hardware issues, focusing on FPGA functionality, 1553 bus communication, and Raspberry Pi integration.
• Proven experience in designing and testing FPGA-based systems.
• Experience with Raspberry Pi hardware and software integration.
• Strong understanding of signal integrity principles and analysis techniques.
• Proficiency in using OrCAD or similar schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
• Experience with various test equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic Analyzers and spectrum analyzer.

Skills & Knowledge:

• Proficiency in FPGA design using VHDL, Verilog, or similar hardware description languages.
• Experience with FPGA tools such as Xilinx Vivado , Intel Quartus , or similar.
• Strong knowledge of digital circuit design, testing, and verification.
• Experience with the MIL-STD-1553 communication protocol, including bus simulation and testing.
• Familiarity with embedded systems design, including integration with Raspberry Pi and custom peripherals.
• Proficiency in PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Or CAD).
• Hands-on experience with signal testing and debugging tools, such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers .
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience with hardware debugging.

Preferred candidate profile

• Familiarity with ARM-based microcontrollers and Raspberry Pi-based systems.
• Experience in the aerospace, automotive, or defence industries.
• Familiarity with high-speed digital design and signal integrity considerations.
