The primary role of a Technical Communications Specialist position is to work closely with engineering teams to create technical project documents such as project descriptions, engineering plans, standard operating procedures, policies, reports, abstracts, developer and user documentation for hardware and software, API documentation, training manuals, knowledge base articles, implementation guides, release notes and other such documents. The position has the following responsibilities:
Work with customers to gather documentation requirements and feedback, and incorporate the necessary information into the documents created
Assist sales, marketing and applications engineering teams with preparing product, technical and commercial proposals
Work with sales, marketing and applications engineering teams with preparing product and service descriptions, journal articles, scientific and technical publications, fact sheets, brochures, blog posts, presentations, press releases and content for digital media to communicate ideas and supporting research
Assist the management team and executives to prepare periodic reports
Review documents prepared by team members to ensure accuracy, completeness, and clarity, along with compliance to internal standards and best practices for technical communications
Knowledge and Technical Skill Requirements Mandatory
Strong written and spoken English language skills
Strong ability to understand and present mathematical, scientific, and technical concepts both verbally and in writing
Preferred
Document preparation with LaTeX (TeX Typesetting)
Document preparation with Markdown, reStructuredText, XML or HTML
Working with project management tools such as Basecamp and Atlassian JIRA
Working with blackboard, diagramming, and presentation tools such as Miro
Working with API specifications such as Swagger or OpenAPI
Knowledge of DITA and DITA best practices
Knowledge of DDLC and DDLC best practices
Experience working directly with teams of engineers
