Welding Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Welding Engineer to join our dynamic team in the Heavy Fabrication Industry. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing welding procedures, qualifying welders, and ensuring high-quality welding standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and WPQ/WOPQ documents.
• Qualify welders as per IBR/ASME/EN standards.
• Conduct training programs for welders and supervisors.
• Estimate, procure, and inspect welding consumables.
• Prepare and approve welding technology sheets, weld maps, weld plans, and sequences.
• Provide technical inputs for new developments and processes.
• Perform root cause analysis of welding defects.
• Monitor and guide production and welding personnel.
• Prepare and implement welding standard operating procedures.
• Coordinate with Third-Party Inspectors (TPI) and testing laboratories.
• Manage Welding Training Center activities and records.
• Review welding machine calibration and troubleshoot equipment.

External Interface:

• Coordinate with third-party inspectors and client/customer representatives for documentation and qualifications.

Internal Interface:

• Coordinate with vendors or works contractor representatives for scheduling new batches of welders.

Critical Competencies:

Functional:

• Extensive knowledge of welding and metal fabrication.
• Proficiency in common welding processes (GTAW, SMAW, SAW, FCAW)
• Knowledge of Carbon steel / alloy steel materials such as Gr.11/ 22/ 91. and stainless steel material TP304, TP316, TP321, TP347 etc
• Knowledge of NDT techniques.

Personal Profile:

# Education:

• Master's in Mechanical/Metallurgy/Welding Technology or Bachelor's in Mechanical/Production/Metallurgy Engineering.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

# Certification:

• Preferable CSWIP-3.1/3.2, AWS-CWI, IWE/IWT.

# Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years (Master's) or 7 years (Bachelor's) experience in welding engineering.
