Network Security Engineer - Palo Alto Firewall (3-4 yrs)

Overview :

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Network Security Engineer specializing in Palo Alto Networks technologies to join our IT security team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and securing the organization's network infrastructure using Palo Alto firewalls, advanced security protocols, and monitoring tools. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement robust security measures, troubleshoot complex network issues, and ensure the organization's data and systems are protected against evolving cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Palo Alto Firewall Management :

- Administer, configure, and maintain Palo Alto Networks firewalls (physical and virtual).

- Perform regular updates, patches, and upgrades to the firewall infrastructure.

- Configure security policies, VPNs, NAT, and other advanced firewall features.

2. Network Security Implementation :

- Design, implement, and manage security architectures to protect the organization's network and systems.

- Implement network segmentation, access control policies, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS) using Palo Alto technologies.

- Work on setting up and maintaining threat prevention services such as URL filtering, antivirus, and anti-bot.

3. Troubleshooting and Support :

- Troubleshoot network security issues and resolve firewall-related incidents in a timely manner.

- Provide expert support for incidents involving firewalls, security policies, VPN connections, and network traffic analysis.

- Conduct root cause analysis for any security breaches or vulnerabilities identified.

4. Monitoring and Reporting :

- Monitor network traffic and security logs to detect anomalies or unauthorized access.

- Use Palo Alto's logging and monitoring tools to generate reports and assess network security health.

- Implement automated alerts to proactively address potential threats and security risks.

5. Collaboration and Documentation :

- Collaborate with the network engineering and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of security measures.

- Create and maintain detailed documentation on firewall configurations, security protocols, and incident response procedures.

- Provide security best practices to ensure the overall safety of the network infrastructure.

6. Security Audits and Compliance :

- Participate in security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration tests to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies.

- Maintain and enforce compliance with security regulations such as PCI-DSS, HIPAA, or GDPR, depending on the industry.

7. Continuous Learning and Improvement :

- Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies.

- Pursue relevant certifications (e.g., Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer, CISSP) to enhance expertise.

- Contribute to continuous improvement in security posture and processes.

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls.

- In-depth understanding of network security principles, protocols, and technologies.

- Strong experience with VPNs, NAT, IDS/IPS, and security policy enforcement.

- Familiarity with Palo Alto's Panorama management platform for centralized firewall management.

- Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing network security issues.

- Solid knowledge of routing, switching, and firewall architectures.

- Experience with network traffic analysis and security log management.

Preferred Certifications :

- Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE).

- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or other relevant certifications.
