As a Non-Volatile Memory Quality and Reliability Assurance (NVMQRA) SSD (eMMC/UFS) Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will provide support for qualification programs, failure analysis, and data analysis toward qualification of next-generation SSD memory devices, which will involve the analysis of both internal and customer requirements, development of qualification plans, analysis of qualification data, performing electrical and mechanical analysis of failing devices and working with other engineering teams to identify root cause and/or new testing methodologies. You will perform risk assessments and provide support for manufacturing teams dealing with SSD quality and reliability issues. You will also be asked to gain new product knowledge, as well as develop and mentor talent.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Manage New Product Qualification
Define qualification plan
Facilitate and manage qualification
Comprehend failures and failure rates within the scope of the qualification
Analyze Reliability data for product validation within specific internal and customer requirements
Perform risk assessment at all decision points within the qualification cycle
Perform Electrical Failure Analysis (EFA) and coordinate root cause and corrective action with other internal engineering groups
Provide technical expertise to internal/external customer
Collaborate with customers to develop custom test methods based on the application usage model
Communicate directly with customers as needed
Review Customer qualification specifications
Provide risk assessment to customer
Assess customer feedback and communicate them internally
Develop Product Quality and Reliability Testing Methodology
Coordinate with research and development teams
Comprehend new processes/technologies for product quality and reliability issues involving SSD products
Comprehend new HW/FW technologies for product quality and reliability issues involving SSD products
Inject SSD quality and reliability requirements into silicon component qualifications and development
Develop product reliability test methods to assess new failure mechanisms
Define test methodology and flows for product qualification
Support Deviant Material Disposition
Assess deviation for product quality and reliability risk based on component deviation
Define evaluation(s) necessary to mitigate risk
Facilitate and manage evaluations
Disposition of deviant material at the appropriate level
Internal Technical Support for RMA Material, Package, and Monitor activities
Assist MNAND RMA team with customer return failure analysis, risk assessment, root cause, and corrective action definition
Provide input on manufacturing history and known issues relative to customer failure signature
Assist package and monitor teams for electrical failure analysis
Assist with necessary corrective actions at manufacturing level
Comprehend field failure rates relative to internal failure rates
Provide Expertise and Consultation
Support Global Qual Meetings
On-board new team members
Train, mentor, and develop new talent
Interface with engineering groups on quality issues
Requirement
Bachelor/Masters degree from Electronics/Computer Science preferred with 8-10 years of experience in Reliability/Memory Design/System Engineering
Experience in Memory Design and Characterization
Experience in Reliability Testing
Knowledge of Storage interfaces such as SD, eMMC, UFS protocols
Knowledge of protocols like NVME , PCIE
Knowledge of Semiconductor Physics and Memory Architecture is a plus
Knowledge on Factory operations and Agile methodology is a plus
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Need to work closely with the team members on a daily basis, set up meetings and calls with the stake-holders and resolve issues diligently is a must
Understanding system specifications, Firmware and memory requirements
Perform NAND flash storage based analysis and verification from product definition and planning through production and release
Understanding on NAND flash system level behavior characterizations
Participates in cross functional meetings such as with Memory, Firmware and product line teams to develop, test and qualify flash storage products.
Identify and ensure internal and external reliability qualification requirements are incorporated into product qualifications. Assure reliability targets are met for new products.
Manage qualification start to finish including engineering evaluations during development. Lead root-cause analysis, corrective and preventative actions to address qualification failures and facilitate or participate in issues that arise on production released products.
Directing, performing and/or coordinating with external or internal team members to perform fault isolation to identify failure mechanisms, isolating faults/defects relating to FW, Memory and Test Programs. Work with cross functional engineering groups to isolate root cause of failures.
