Microland - Presales Solution Architect - Site Reliability Engineering (5-10 yrs)

Role Overview :

The experienced SRE / DevOps Presales Solution Architect role will design and present cutting-edge Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps solutions, ensuring alignment with client needs and technical requirements.

The role will collaborate with sales, practices, and delivery teams to develop tailored solutions that drive customer success, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, automation, and cost optimization.

Additionally, play a key role in developing and evolving our SRE and DevOps service offerings to stay ahead of market trends and meet client demands.

Key Responsibilities :

Solution Design :

- Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives, technical requirements, and operational challenges.

- Design SRE-focused solutions that emphasize reliability, scalability, and performance, including:

- Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

- Incident management, blameless postmortems, and root cause analysis (RCA).

- Observability frameworks (monitoring, logging, tracing) using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Datadog.

- Develop DevOps solutions leveraging modern practices such as :

1. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.

2. Policy as Code (PaC) for compliance and governance using tools like Open Policy Agent (OPA) or HashiCorp Sentinel.

3. Cost as Code to optimize cloud spending and ensure cost transparency.

4. GitOps for continuous delivery and declarative infrastructure management using tools like ArgoCD or Flux.

- Create architecture diagrams, technical proposals, and presentations to articulate the value of proposed solutions.

Presales Support :

- Act as a technical advisor, providing expert guidance during the presales process.

- Conduct product demos, reliability workshops, and incident simulation exercises to showcase SRE principles in action.

- Demonstrate IaC, PaC, Cost as Code, and GitOps workflows to highlight automation and operational efficiency.

- Respond to RFPs and RFIs with detailed technical responses, emphasizing SRE best practices and DevOps automation.

Client Engagement :

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders (CTOs, IT directors, engineering teams).

- Identify client pain points related to system reliability, scalability, cost management, and operational efficiency.

- Propose SRE-driven solutions to improve mean time to recovery (MTTR), reduce mean time between failures (MTBF), and enhance overall system resilience.

- Share thought leadership on SRE principles, including error budgeting, toil reduction, and proactive incident prevention.

- Advocate for cost optimization strategies using Cost as Code and FinOps practices.

Practice and Offerings Development :

- Collaborate with the product management and engineering teams to develop and refine SRE and DevOps service offerings.

- Identify gaps in existing offerings and propose new solutions based on client needs, market trends, and emerging technologies.

- Create standardized frameworks, templates, and best practices for SRE and DevOps implementations.

- Develop reusable assets such as IaC modules, PaC policies, and GitOps workflows to accelerate delivery and improve consistency.

- Contribute to the creation of market-ready solutions that address common client challenges, such as cloud migration, cost optimization, and reliability engineering.

Collaboration :

- Partner with the sales team to identify new business opportunities and develop winning strategies.

- Work with engineering and delivery teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with SRE and DevOps best practices.

- Provide feedback to product management on client requirements and market trends, particularly in the areas of reliability engineering, automation, and cost management.

Continuous Improvement :

- Stay updated on the latest trends in SRE, DevOps, cloud technologies, and IT infrastructure.

- Enhance solution offerings by incorporating SRE tools (e., Chaos Engineering, GitOps) and DevOps automation frameworks.

- Mentor junior team members and share knowledge to elevate the team's expertise in SRE, DevOps, and modern infrastructure practices.

Qualifications, Expertise and Experience :

Education :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field from a reputed collage.

- Master's degree is a plus.

Tech Skills and Experience :

- 5+ years in SRE, DevOps, or IT infrastructure roles, with a strong focus on reliability engineering and automation.

- 3+ years in providing pre-sales and solutions support for SRE/DevOps RFPs and offerings development

- Proven experience designing and implementing SRE solutions, including :

1. Defining and tracking SLOs/SLIs/SLAs.

2. Implementing observability and monitoring frameworks.

3. Conducting incident management and postmortems.

- Hands-on professional level expertise with at least cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes),

- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Chaos Engineering, GitOps, and Policy as Code (PaC)

- Strong knowledge and experience with at least 2 leading IaC tools like Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, Pulumi, Crossplane,

- Hands on experience with industry leading CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps, AWS CI/CD tools, Argo CD, Flux,

- Experience with Cost as Code and FinOps practices for cloud cost optimization for various clouds and Kubernetes.

- Demonstrated ability to develop and refine service offerings in a consulting or MSP environment.

- Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities, particularly in the context of system reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.

Certifications (at least 2 preferred) :

- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Foundations or equivalent.

- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).

- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.

- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

- Google Professional Cloud Architect.

- HashiCorp Certified : Terraform Associate.

- FinOps Certified Practitioner
