The Head of Logistics will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end supply chain, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective distribution of packaged drinking water across India. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and operational execution to manage both owned fleet and third-party logistics (3PL) while optimizing ERP-driven logistics operations. The ideal candidate will drive on-time deliveries, cost efficiencies, and seamless nationwide distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Logistics Strategy & Network Optimization
-Develop and implement nationwide logistics strategies to ensure timely and efficient product distribution.
- Balance own fleet and 3PL logistics for cost-effective and flexible transportation solutions.
- Optimize route planning and fleet utilization to reduce delivery time and fuel costs.
- Strengthen relationships with 3PL partners, warehouses, and key stakeholders.
2. Warehousing & Inventory Management
• Supervise inventory control across multiple distribution centers, ensuring FIFO & FEFO
compliance.
• Work with the ERP system to streamline stock tracking, minimize wastage, and prevent
stock outs.
• Ensure temperature-controlled storage for product quality compliance.
3. Transportation & Distribution
• Oversee nationwide transportation operations, ensuring on-time delivery across multiple cities. • Implement real-time fleet tracking using ERP-integrated systems.
• Manage cost-per-kilometer metrics, optimizing fuel efficiency and reducing logistics expenses. • Drive last-mile delivery efficiency to maintain product availability across retail channels.
4. Vendor & Supplier Management
. Develop long-term partnerships with reliable transporters and 3PL vendors.
• Negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service
. • Monitor vendor performance and enforce service level agreements (SLAs).
5. Team Leadership & Operational Excellence
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 4 Logistics Managers, fostering a high performance
culture
. • Implement SOPs and industry best practices to improve logistics efficiency.
• Drive process improvements through data-driven decision-making and ERP analytics
. 6. Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure compliance with government regulations, safety standards, and environmental
guidelines.
• Develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions, ensuring business continuity.
• Implement health & safety protocols for fleet operations and warehouse management.
