Automotive System Engineer - Job description
Responsibilities
As part of Vans Engineering team @Mercedes, we are looking for an Automotive System Engineer.
The selected resource will join the Vans SUMS team will be employed on the design, development, support, training, documentation of several vehicle Electronic Control Units with the following responsibilities:
Analysis and management of technical specifications for automotive Electronic Control Units.
Interactions with stakeholders to clearly define all expected system functionalities and interfaces.
Definition and writing of system requirements according to predefined quality criteria.
Definition of electronic system architecture in collaboration with design areas.
Interaction with project stakeholders to review and discuss technical requirements during the product development phases.
Impact evaluation of requirements modification according to Change Management process.
Tracking and monitoring all requirement modifications within technical specifications.
Preparation of effect chain mapping (functional/system/ECU) in Rapsody or similar tools
Supporting the validation team during bench testing phases and during vehicle testing phases.
Ensuring the release of project deliverables in compliance with quality, timing and budget constraints.
Required Skills
Mandatory Skills:
BTech/MTech Degree in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering.
At least 1 year of experience in Requirements Engineering and Requirements Management.
Experience in development of end to end Automotive electronic systems (eg: Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, Connected Car Systems, Powertrain, Vehicle Dynamics, Cybersecurity, HMI).
Knowledge of main Automotive communication protocols: CAN, LIN and Ethernet.
Strong propensity to innovation and teamwork.
Proactivity and problem-solving skills.
Positive mindset, commitment, precision, flexibility and reliability.
High precision and attention for details.
Fluent English both spoken and written with German language skill as a bonus for selection.
Knowledge of tools (e.g. IBM Rapsody, Jira).
Nice To Have Skills:
Knowledge of Requirements Management tools (e.g. DOORS).
Knowledge of automotive product development.
Knowledge of Automotive SPICE or equivalent quality standards.
Knowledge of Functional Safety (e.g. ISO 26262).
Knowledge of Automotive Cybersecurity principles and main standards (e.g. ISO 21434, etc.).
