Lead Data Scientist

Wolters Kluwer ELM Solutions is a business unit under Legal & regulatory division of Wolters Kluwer, specializing in Enterprise Legal Management (ELM) software and services for legal department and law firm management. Their offerings include legal spend management, helping organizations control expenses through detailed tracking and analysis. Matter management tools are provided to efficiently handle legal cases and coordinate with various teams. They also offer contract management solutions, aiding in the creation and storage of legal contracts. Advanced data analytics and reporting capabilities are integral to their products, enabling legal departments to derive actionable insights. Their solutions are designed to streamline workflows, ensure compliance, and automate routine tasks, thereby enhancing the operational effectiveness of legal teams.

The position is for a Lead Data Scientist in the ELM AI & Data Science team. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced AI Solutions Architect to design, develop, and implement AI-driven solutions that address complex business challenges. The ideal candidate will work at the intersection of data science, software engineering, and business strategy, leading the architecture and deployment of AI systems that drive innovation, efficiency, and value.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Solution Design and Architecture:

• Design end-to-end AI solutions that align with organizational goals and technical infrastructure.
• Select and integrate appropriate AI technologies, frameworks, and tools to meet project requirements.
• Develop scalable and maintainable architectures for AI models, pipelines, and applications.

Technical Leadership:

• Lead AI solution development from ideation to production, collaborating with cross-functional teams (data engineers, developers, and business stakeholders).
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
• Define best practices for AI model development, deployment, and monitoring.

AI Development and Deployment:

• Design, prototype, and optimize AI/ML models and algorithms for various use cases.
• Deploy AI solutions in production environments, ensuring reliability, security, and performance.
• Implement MLOps practices for continuous model training, testing, and monitoring.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

• Work closely with business leaders to understand requirements and translate them into AI-driven solutions.
• Present technical concepts and project outcomes to non-technical stakeholders.

Innovation and Research:

• Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI/ML technologies and tools.
• Evaluate new AI methodologies and their applicability to business needs.
• Identify opportunities for AI adoption and innovation within the organization.

Other Duties:

• Proactively pursues professional development activities (e.g., establishing personal networks).
• Manages time and company resources appropriately.
• Performs other duties as requested by his/her supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field with 6 years experience OR, Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Information Technology or similar field with 8 years experience

• 5+ years of experience in AI/ML model development and deployment.
• Proven experience in architecting AI/ML solutions and leading AI projects.
• Experience with natural language processing, computer vision, or reinforcement learning is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications: (Includes Minimum)

• Strong proficiency in data science tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, etc.).
• Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and deploying AI solutions in cloud environments.
• Knowledge of data pipelines, ETL processes, and big data technologies is plus.
• Familiarity with MLOps tools and practices (Kubeflow, MLflow, or similar).
