Job Description: Senior Skill Instructor - Food & Beverage Service
Job Summary:
As a Senior Skill Instructor in Food & Beverage Service, you will be responsible for imparting comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to aspiring professionals in the field of food and beverage service. Leveraging your expertise in Food & Beverage, mixology and advanced knowledge in the industry, you will guide learners to excel in various aspects of food and beverage service, including table service, bar tending, and mixology.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
 Design and develop comprehensive training programs, syllabus, and course materials aligned with industry standards and best practices.
 Incorporate innovative teaching methodologies and practical exercises to enhance learning outcomes.
 Stay updated on industry trends and emerging techniques to ensure curriculum relevance.
Instruction and Training:
 Deliver engaging lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training sessions on a variety of topics, including:

  • Should be prepared to teach operational, practical and managerial aspects alongside supervising final projects and examinations.
  • Should also demonstrate an ability to plan and deliver lectures, practical sessions, and seminars embracing innovative teaching methods and focus on effective learning outcomes.
  • The ability to apply management theory to sector-specific practices is essential.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to research and, or enterprise activities in the field of hospitality.
  • Should be prepared to plan and help events in the university.
  • Should help in running the operations of the university’s cafà / restaurant.
    • Table service etiquette and protocols
    • Food and beverage knowledge, including menu engineering and pairing
    • Beverage service techniques, including wine, beer, and spirits
    • Mixology and cocktail crafting, including classic and contemporary recipes
    • Bar setup and maintenance
    • Inventory management and cost control
    • Provide personalized guidance and support to learners, addressing individual needs and learning styles.
    • Assess learner progress through practical assessments, quizzes, and projects.

Skill Development:
1.Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and professional growth.
2. Mentor and coach learners to develop essential soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
3.Promote a culture of excellence and professionalism among learners.
Industry Partnerships:
1.Build and maintain strong relationships with industry professionals and organizations to stay informed about current trends and opportunities.
2. Collaborate with industry partners to organize internships, apprenticeships, and job placement opportunities for learners.
Quality Assurance:
1. Continuously evaluate and improve training programs to ensure high-quality outcomes.
2. Maintain accurate records of learner attendance, performance, and certifications.
3.Adhere to all safety and hygiene standards in the training environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
1.Masters degree from a credible hospitality institute would be an advantage.
2.Proven experience as a skilled mixologist with a deep understanding of spirits, liqueurs, and cocktail techniques.
3. 3-5 years of experience in Food & Beverage department in an international hotel or an upscale international restaurant in supervising or management position.
4. A positive attitude and Strong instructional, and communication skills, with the ability to engage learners of diverse backgrounds.

5. Excellent organizational and time management skills.

6.Passion for the hospitality industry and a commitment to providing exceptional training.
7.Subject expertise in the areas of food and beverage production and service, venue and, or event management would be desirable.
8. Working knowledge of current practices, agendas and innovations within this international industry is essential.
9. Knowledge of POS, PMS is required.
