III. JOB PURPOSE :

The job involves both clinical and academic responsibilities, as well as administrative duties.

IV. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core Responsibilities

Clinical Duties :

• Tissue Examination and Diagnosis: Analyze tissue samples obtained through biopsies, surgeries, and autopsies to diagnose diseases such as cancer, infections, and autoimmune disorders.
• Slide Preparation and Staining: Prepare tissue samples, including fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining, to facilitate detailed examination.
• Interpretation of Histopathological Findings: Provide expert interpretation of histopathological slides and collaborate with pathologists and clinicians for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Case Discussions: Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings or clinical rounds to discuss complex cases and contribute to treatment planning.

Administrative Responsibilities:

• Laboratory Management: Ensure smooth functioning of the histopathology laboratory, including maintaining equipment, inventory, and ensuring safety protocols.
• Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and document detailed reports of diagnostic findings, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timeliness.

Quality Control and Assurance:

• Ensure High-Quality Standards: Maintain high standards of accuracy in diagnostic reporting and ensure adherence to laboratory protocols and quality control measures.
• Supervision of Laboratory Techniques: Ensure that all laboratory staff and junior residents are following best practices in histopathological procedures.

• V. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

Measurable Deliverables

• Monitor the error rate in diagnostic reports
• Average turnaround time for slide preparation, staining, and diagnostic reporting
• Regular participation in case discussions and tumor boards, contributing diagnostic insights and treatment recommendations
• Deliver histopathology reports for routine, urgent, and complex cases within established timeframes, ensuring diagnostic accuracy.

VI. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

MD or DNB in Pathology, with a focus on histopathology

Experience

• Preferably with 1-3 years experience with high volume laboratory.
