Clinical Associate -OBGY

Role & responsibilities :

• Your duty hours at the Hospital would be scheduled to cover Hospital rounds, free OPDs, Private OPDs, Operating Room timings, on call Duties, Administrative commitments and academic activities. The management reserves the right to modify these from time to time. During the duty hours, you will be required to be present in the Hospital to attend to the patients and if the patient cares so demands, you shall stay for longer hours.
• It is mandatory to wear the white coat while on duty.
• You must take professional round of all the wards and areas, where patients of the units to which they are attached are admitted for the arrival of the Consultant. You should examine patients under your charge and inspect medical records with a view to ensure that history has been properly recorded, progress notes entered and treatment prescribed carried out. You will also listen to patients, his or her attendants complaints and bring all such complaints which he is not able to redress, to the notice of the Consultant/Administration, as the case may be.
• After the patient is discharged, it is your responsibility to scrutinize that the case documentation is complete in every respect. You must write brief summary sent to the Medical Record Section.
• While going off duty, you will brief your successor about the patients in your charge, especially those who are critically ill, serious operated cases and cases having medico legal angle.
• Prompt attention should be given to cases arriving in the Casualty.
• While on duty you must keep the Sister In charge /Telephone Operator informed of their whereabouts. This is essential when you have to be contacted in an emergency. You must respond to Paging/Bleep system/mobile phone on priority basis.
• You will be directly responsible for supervision of patient care in his/her unit with the assistance of house surgeons.
• You will be contacted by the House Surgeon on duty in case of emergency. If necessary, he should consult the Consultant Incharge of the Unit or the general duty Medical Officer when available.
• In cases of death, it will be your responsibility to verify that case documentation is complete and write a brief summary of the case before it is sent to the Medical Records Section.
• You will maintain a book/register to indicate the patients in his charge who require care/follow up during the routine night rounds and will apprise the duty house staff of such cases.
