General Manager - DRI

Role & responsibilities

The General Manager - DRI (Direct Reduced Iron) has to lead and manage the overall operations & maintenance of the DRI plant (4x100 TPD), ensuring its efficiency, safety, profitability, and sustainability. This role is critical to the plants ability to produce high-quality iron products while optimizing production processes, managing resources effectively, and maintaining strict adherence to safety and environmental standards.

• Ensure that the plant consistently meets production targets in terms of quantity and quality of direct reduced iron (DRI).
• Continuously improve production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce raw material waste, and minimize downtime.
• Maximize the effective utilization of plant capacity while ensuring that production is cost-effective and within budget constraints.
• Oversee a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to minimize unplanned downtime and extend the life of critical equipment.
• Monitor the performance of key equipment and ensure they are operating at optimal efficiency.
• Implement safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, minimizing accidents and injuries.
• Ensure compliance with all local, national environmental and safety regulations.
• Implement energy-saving initiatives and monitor the energy consumption of the plant to ensure optimal energy use.
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities, including optimizing raw material usage, reducing energy consumption, and improving process efficiencies.
• Provide leadership to the plants workforce, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. This includes managing plant managers, engineers, supervisors, operators, and other support staff.
• Ensure that staff are properly trained in both technical skills and safety protocols to improve overall plant performance.
• Focus on achieving the plants financial goals by managing costs effectively, optimizing production, and ensuring high-quality outputs. Maximize plant profitability through cost management, revenue generation, and efficiency improvements.
• Provide regular financial performance reports to senior management, detailing key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost control, production efficiency, and profitability.
