DRI Mechanical Head - Operations & Maintenance

Job Title : DRI Mechanical Head (O & M)

Reports to: Plant Head / General Manager - Operations

Job Summary:

The DRI Mechanical - Head (O & M) will oversee all mechanical maintenance and engineering activities within the DRI plant to ensure smooth operations, maximum equipment uptime, and adherence to safety and quality standards. This role requires a strategic approach to preventive and corrective maintenance while optimizing resources and minimizing downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Maintenance Management:

• Oversee all mechanical maintenance activities, including routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance of DRI plant equipment such as kilns, coolers, conveyors, compressors, pumps, fans, and other mechanical systems.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency.

.Equipment and Process Optimization:

• Monitor equipment performance and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency and reduce mechanical failures.
• Collaborate with the production team to ensure optimal equipment operation and performance.

Inventory and Resource Management:

• Manage spare parts inventory to ensure critical components are available for immediate repairs while minimizing inventory costs.
• Optimize the use of resources, including manpower, tools, and equipment.

Vendor and Contractor Management:

• Liaise with external vendors and contractors for specialized services, ensuring quality and timely completion of work.

Budget Management:

• Prepare and manage the mechanical maintenance budget, controlling costs while maintaining high standards of maintenance.

Reporting and Documentation:

• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and incidents, along with cost involved in such actions.
• Provide regular reports to the Plant Head/Head Quarter on maintenance activities, issues and recommendations for cost savings and improvements.

Educational Qualification:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. A Master's degree is an advantage.

Experience:

Minimum of 20-25 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in a DRI plant or similar heavy industrial environment. At least 5 years in a leadership role managing a mechanical maintenance team.
