Junior GIS Engineer

Role & responsibilities:

GIS Data Collection & Processing

• Collect, clean, and process geospatial datasets from satellite imagery, UAVs (drones), IoT sensors, and remote sensing sources.
• Perform data conversion, georeferencing, and digitization for mapping applications.
• Maintain and update spatial databases (PostGIS, SpatiaLite).

Mapping & Visualization

• Create high-quality interactive maps and dashboards for real-time farm analytics.
• Develop web GIS applications using platforms like Google Earth Engine, Mapbox, or Leaflet.js.
• Provide GIS-based insights for precision farming, crop monitoring, and land-use planning.

Remote Sensing & Spatial Analysis

• Analyze NDVI, EVI, and other vegetation indices to assess crop health.
• Use machine learning techniques to develop predictive models for yield estimation and disease detection.
• Work with data scientists to integrate geospatial insights into AI-driven decision-making.

Collaboration & Research

• Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and agronomists to integrate GIS data into platforms.
• Research new geospatial technologies and their applications in agriculture.

Preferred candidate profile :

• Education: Bachelor's/Masters in GIS, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in QGIS, ArcGIS, Python (for geospatial automation), and Google Earth Engine.
• Strong understanding of remote sensing, raster analysis, and GPS technology.
• Experience with spatial databases (PostGIS) and cloud GIS solutions is a plus.
• Work Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced, research-driven AgriTech environment.
