Job Description: Marine People Advisor
Location: Mumbai, India
About the Role: As a Marine People Advisor, you will serve as an Advisor for a designated group of seafarers, managing approximately 500 employees. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the employees, from recruitment to exit, ensuring compliance with industry standards, managing employee relations, and supporting operational excellence. Your role will involve close coordination with recruitment, training, and payroll teams, while also focusing on HR operations, compliance, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
End-to-End Employee Lifecycle Management:
Oversee the full employee lifecycle for a designated group of seafarers, including recruitment, contract issuance, on-board support, training, performance management, and exits.
Act as a single point of contact for seafarers for all HR-related inquiries, ensuring their safety, well-being, and compliance during their voyages.
Compliance & Operations Management:
Ensure adherence to maritime compliance regulations and document management.
Handle compliance-related documentation, reports, and audits to ensure that all records are up-to-date and align with internal and external requirements.
Manage operational tasks like reports, MIS execution, and process improvements related to employee lifecycle and compliance.
Employee Relations:
Engage with employees post-assignment through crew connect calls, gathering feedback on their voyages and resolving any issues or challenges faced by seafarers.
Support seafarers during medical emergencies, promotions, and retirements.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
Work alongside a team of Marine People Advisors to address different employee groups. This role will focus on blue-collar workforce management.
Work closely with senior Marine People Advisors to share insights, best practices, and handle more complex employee relations cases.
Operational Project Management:
Lead specific projects related to compliance, process improvements, and HR operations to ensure smoother execution of day-to-day functions.
Leverage operational expertise to drive efficiencies in HR processes while maintaining a high standard of support to seafarers.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Experience:
3 to 5 years of experience in HR, preferably in an operations-heavy environment
Experience in compliance management, personal administration, or people-facing roles involving documentation and MIS.
Skills:
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to liaise with seafarers and internal teams.
Ability to manage large volumes of compliance-related work and ensure accurate, timely reporting.
Background:
Preferably a generalist HR background with a focus on operational efficiency and process management.
Knowledge or understanding of maritime or blue-collar workforce management will be an advantage.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to handle high-stakes situations in a remote work environment (seafarers are mostly at sea).
A strong interest in HR operations, compliance, and process improvement in a complex, highly regulated environment.
