Job Description

Job Role and Responsibilities :

As a Mechanical Design Engineer within the Center of Excellence (COE) team at Luminous Power Technologies, youll play a crucial role in the complete product development process for the FutureX R&D Team. Here are your key responsibilities:

  • Structural Analysis:
  • Apply analytical and numerical methods to perform structural FEA analysis of Power Backup Solution products like, Inverters, Batteries, Solar Panel etc.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements packaging design and high-speed design evaluation.
  • Transportation Analysis for LKVA and HKVA Inverter Projects:
  • Transportation analysis involves assessing how the inverter components will behave during shipping and handling. Consider factors like vibration, shock, and impact to ensure the inverter withstands transportation stresses.
  • Design the cost-effective packaging for LKVA inverter to transport product without damage.
  • Concept Validation Static Structural and Vibrational Analysis:
  • Static structural analysis evaluates the inverter and Li-ion batteries response to static loads (e.g., weight, pressure) particularly for wall mounting kind of products.
  • Vibrational analysis assesses how the inverter and Li-ion battery respond to dynamic loads (e.g., vibration, shock and drop). Virtually validate the product before going for UN 38.3, AIS-156 certification.
  • Predict the solar panel behavior under high wind and adverse weather conditions.
  • Rubber gasket simulation for proper fitting for IP 67 product design.
  • Cost and DOE Simulation for Optimization:
  • Design of Experiments (DOE) helps optimize parameters (e.g., fasteners, sheet metal thickness).
  • Simulate different scenarios to minimize costs while maintaining enough structural strength.
  • Drop and Impact Dynamics Explicit Analysis:
  • Using LS-Dyna tool, perform the drop analysis of LKVA inverter with packaging, Li-ion Batteries to predict the product failure in such drop, impact or other accidental event.
  • Hail Impact analysis of solar panel for ICE-61215 standard certification.
  • PCB Mounting Location Optimization:
  • Ensure proper PCB mounting to prevent vertical mounted component failures under vibrational condition.
  • Simulate solder joints, thermal effects, and mechanical stress on the PCB mounted components.
  • Consider factors like vibration, shock, and impact to ensure the inverter withstands transportation stresses.
  • RCA analysis for field trial failure:
  • Perform RCA for field trial failure of Inverter, batteries or solar panel using FEA and suggest solution to prevent that failure.
  • Plastic Part simulation:
  • Perform plastic panel simulation, plastic part snap fit joint structural analysis.
  • Plastic injection molded part structural analysis for static and dynamics loading conditions to optimize the part thickness and ribs designs.
  • Documentation and Support:
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation, including design specifications, FEA analysis reports, and vibration, shock and other Mechanical test data.
  • Offer technical guidance and support to junior engineers when needed.
  • Supplier and Testing laboratories Collaboration:
  • Visit and collaborate with suppliers related to material properties, and testing laboratories for different material level testing, vibration, shock or other static or dynamic loading testing and test procedure.
  • Continuous Learning:
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to structural solutions and simulation models.

Qualification :

1. Education:

2. Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech/B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

3. Master’s degree (M.E./M.Tech) in Mechanical or Design Engineering is preferred.

2. Experience:

1. Minimum 3 years of experience in FEA (Finite Element Analysis) using Ansys software or related software, specifically related to packaging related transportation type of analysis.

2. 3 Years of experience of SpaceClaim Geometry Clean up and Meshing using Ansys Mechanical APDL solver.

3. Technical Knowledge:

1. Proficiency in material properties, SOM, Vibration and Dynamic loading fundamentals

2. Familiarity with packaging type and transportation standards.

3. Experience using simulation tools such as Ansys SpaceClaim, Ansys Mechanical APDL Solver, LS-Dyna, and CREO.

4. Simulation Workflow:

1. Understanding of industry-standard simulation analysis workflows and testing standards.

2. Ability to apply mechanical design standards effectively.

5. Specific Skills:

1. Proficient in Bolt pretension, rubber gasket compression, tightening torque calculation and fundamentals.

2. Expertise in fastener selection, weld joint, stiffener design, plastic part design, gasket selection.

3. Hands-on experience in pre and post processing of FAE analyses, specifically MCAD clean up, contacts, meshing, boundary conditions, graph and contour and animation visualization and animation creation.

4. Knowledge of Compression pad, gasket, plastic parts used in Li-ion industry, including proper selection to meet the IP, and structural requirements while considering cost-effectiveness and environmental impact.

6. Optimization and Communication:

1. Analytical skills to optimize mechanical design solutions by selecting appropriate thickness of sheet metal, gasket selection, fastener pitch distance, ribs, and stiffeners.

2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

3. Strong interpersonal skills for negotiation and conflict resolution.

4. Organizational skills and attention to detail.

7. Problem-Solving:

1. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address mechanical/structural challenges effectively.
