- Plant Head (Third-Party Service Centers)- We are looking for a seasoned and detail-oriented Plant Head to develop and oversee the operations of our third-party service centers across 10+ locations in India. This role requires setting up robust systems and processes to ensure that steel processing meets the highest standards of quality, compliance with company policies, and customer-specific requirements.
- The Plant Head will lead a team of on-roll and off-roll employees, ensuring seamless operations from raw material inwards to finished goods inventory and dispatch. The Plant Head will manage end-to-end operations, ensuring on- time processing and delivery of orders, while maintaining high quality standards. This role will also focus on reducing quality complaints and achieving swift complaint resolution.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and standardize systems and processes across all third-party service centers for efficient steel processing.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and customer-specific requirements at every stage of processing.
- Conduct periodic audits to evaluate adherence to laid-out processes and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Oversee the entire production lifecycle, from raw material receipt to finished goods inventory and dispatch.
- Manage stocking and processing operations to ensure optimal utilization of resources while maintaining quality standards.
- Ensure on-time processing and delivery of orders in alignment with customer requirements and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Address quality-related issues proactively, working with internal teams and service center partners to implement solutions.
- Monitor and minimize the number of quality complaints, and ensure timely resolution within predefined turnaround times (TATs).
- Build and lead a high-performing team comprising on-roll and off-roll employees.
- Train and mentor staff on quality standards, operational protocols, and safety guidelines.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement among team members.
- Collaborate with third-party service center management to align operations with company expectations.
- Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs) with vendors to ensure cost efficiency and quality performance.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the company and service centers for operational matters.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for service centers, including processing efficiency, inventory accuracy, delivery timelines, and quality metrics.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on operational performance and key challenges.
- Leverage data analytics to drive decision-making and improve plant operations.
Who can apply:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; an MBA is a plus.
- 15+ years of experience in plant operations, production management, or supply chain, preferably in the steel or manufacturing industry.
- Proven experience in setting up and managing systems and processes in a multi-location environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance, inventory management, and logistics.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel frequently to service center locations.
- Flexibility in switching from strategic to tactical and operational levels of thinking and working, specifically in strategy deployment
- Must have tolerance for a complex, ever-changing and dynamic work environment
- Ability to demonstrate good decision making in ambiguous circumstances
