Job Title : AVP Engineering.
Department : Systems and Technology.
Reporting : Head of Engineering.
Purpose of Job :
Responsible for ensuring predictable, high-quality, and timely delivery of technology solutions that drive the company's business operations.
This role is crucial in establishing a scalable, resilient, and efficient engineering function that aligns with business goals and regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities:.
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, architects, and data engineers.
- Ensure predictable software delivery by implementing agile methodologies, sprint planning, and release management processes.
- Develop and maintain a structured delivery roadmap with clear milestones, dependencies, and risk mitigation plans.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Product, Business, Risk, and Compliance, and other teams to ensure seamless execution and alignment with business goals.
- Optimize DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation to improve deployment speed, reduce cycle times, and enhance system stability.
- Monitor and improve engineering KPIs, including delivery predictability, sprint velocity, incident resolution time, and defect rates.
- Proactively identify bottlenecks and technical debt to enhance scalability, performance, and compliance adherence.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement within the engineering team to enhance agility and efficiency.
- Drive operational excellence by ensuring 99.
- 99% uptime, system reliability, and high-performance architecture for core fintech platforms.
- Experience with financial and transactional systems.
- Experience engineering for large volumes of data at scale.
- Experience with financial audit and compliance is a plus.
- Experience building a successful consumer facing web and mobile apps at scale.
Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science.
Work Experience : 10+ years of experience building and leading growing engineering functions, ideally for a fintech offering.
Other Requirements :
- A thoughtful and proven approach to hiring, mentoring and scaling a top-notch engineering team.
- Execute against strategy in cooperation with other teams, including Product Management, Data Science, Business, and Marketing Teams Should have experience of leading a team.
Skills & Competencies :
Technical Skills :
- A strong track record of creating engaging, intuitive and highly secure engineering products from conception to production.
- Experience in AWS infrastructure and developer operations environments.
- Ability to write clean code and have top-notch general programming skills along with experience coding JavaScript (Node.js) applications/services using frameworks such as Express.
- Experience with Python and Flask.
- Experience with SQL and No-SQL databases (e.MySQL, MongoDB).
- Performance production databases (e.MySQL, DynamoDB) is ideal.
- Data savviness.
