Job Description



Job Title: Business Development Manager (BDM)
Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) in the furniture and kids' education toys and books industry is responsible for driving business growth through the acquisition of new clients, expansion of existing customer accounts, and development of strategic partnerships. The BDM will focus on market research, lead generation, and sales to ensure the company's products meet the evolving needs of families, schools, and educational institutions. This role requires a combination of sales expertise, industry knowledge, and the ability to build long-term relationships with customers and partners.
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Market Research & Strategy Development:
    • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends in the furniture and kids' education toys and books sectors.
    • Develop a comprehensive business development strategy targeting key market segments such as schools, early learning centres, retailers, and e-commerce platforms.
    • Identify potential clients and new business opportunities across both B2B and B2C markets.

  1. Sales & Revenue Growth:
    • Generate and pursue leads to convert them into clients for the company's furniture, toys, and educational books.
    • Develop and deliver tailored sales presentations and proposals to different customer segments.
    • Negotiate contracts and close sales deals to meet or exceed revenue targets.
    • Develop and implement sales strategies for new product launches and seasonal campaigns.

  1. Client Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including retailers, wholesalers, schools, educational institutions, and e-commerce platforms.
    • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by providing excellent post-sales support and addressing any client concerns.
    • Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling within existing client accounts, such as selling complementary products like furniture and educational materials together.

  1. Partnerships & Channel Development:
    • Identify and develop strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders, including distributors, educational associations, and trade bodies.
    • Work on expanding distribution channels, including retail partnerships, online marketplaces, and direct sales channels.
    • Negotiate partnership agreements and establish long-term relationships to increase product reach and market penetration.

  1. Product Development & Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with product development teams to provide market insights and customer feedback to guide the development of new products in the furniture and educational toys/book categories.
    • Work with marketing teams to create effective campaigns that resonate with target audiences, including parents, educators, and retailers.
    • Ensure that the companys product offerings stay competitive and meet the needs of both current and potential customers.







  1. Reporting & Performance Monitoring:
    • Track and report on business development activities, including lead generation, conversion rates, and revenue performance.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales growth, customer acquisition, and retention rates.
    • Prepare regular sales forecasts and performance reports for senior management.

Key Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of the furniture and kids education toys and books industry.
  • Excellent sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic business plans.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with CRM software and sales analytics tools.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or a similar role, preferably in the furniture, toys, or education industry.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and growing client relationships.
  • Experience working with both B2B and B2C markets.

Work Environment:

  • The role requires a combination of office work, client visits, and travel to trade shows, industry events, and conferences.
  • Collaboration with internal teams such as sales, marketing, and product development is key to success.
  • Flexibility in work hours may be required to accommodate client meetings and industry events.
