We are looking for a skilled and reliable Wireman to join our team. The Wireman will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring and systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of electrical systems, safety standards, and wiring techniques, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities: Wiring & Installation: Install and connect electrical wiring for power, lighting, and control systems as per electrical diagrams and blueprints.
Work with different types of wiring and cables, including low voltage, high voltage, and specialized cables. Ensure all wiring installations are completed in compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and client requirements.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform regular maintenance on electrical wiring systems, identifying potential issues and addressing them before they result in failures.
Troubleshoot electrical faults, including power outages, short circuits, and faulty connections, ensuring the system operates safely and efficiently. Repair or replace damaged wiring, switches, panels, and other electrical components as needed.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all electrical safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear. Follow national and local electrical codes, building codes, and regulations to ensure all work is up to standard. Maintain a safe and organized work environment, ensuring all tools and materials are used safely and effectively.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of electrical installations, maintenance work, and repairs performed.
Provide reports on the status of electrical systems and any work performed, including identifying potential improvements or concerns.
Collaborate with supervisors or project managers to ensure work is completed according to project timelines and specifications.
Collaboration & Teamwork: Work with other electricians, engineers, and contractors to ensure the smooth execution of projects. Assist in the training and mentoring of junior electricians and apprentices as required.
Key Qualifications: Education & Experience: Diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, or a related field. 2+ years of hands-on experience in electrical wiring, installation, and maintenance. Experience working in residential, commercial, or industrial settings is an advantage.
Technical Skills: Proficient in wiring techniques, electrical systems, and troubleshooting methods. Knowledge of electrical tools and equipment such as wire strippers, testers, drills, and multimeters.
Familiarity with electrical diagrams, blueprints, and circuit designs.
Understanding of safety standards, regulations, and compliance requirements for electrical work.
Certifications & Tools: Certification or license to work as an electrician/wireman is often required (based on local laws). Basic first-aid training or other safety certifications are a plus.
Proficiency in using electrical testing and measuring equipment (e.g., voltage testers, insulation resistance testers).
Personal Attributes: Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and safety in all work. Good problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly diagnose electrical issues.
Strong physical stamina and ability to work in a variety of conditions (e.g., confined spaces, heights).
Excellent teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with other staff and stakeholders. Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic and commitment to meeting deadlines.
