This is an exciting opportunity to learn about the Projects and work with the experts in the field
The interns will be working closely with our team to conduct geospatial analysis, fieldwork, research, capture data, and coordinate with teams for project implementation
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of these interns would be to assist in :
Use GIS software to process spatial data, create maps, and perform spatial analysis
Assist in acquiring and preprocessing satellite imagery and other geospatial data from various sources
Perform data cleaning, correction, and enhancement to ensure accuracy and reliability
Field data collection in the project landscapes
Data collection for remote sensing on carbon, water, other ecosystem services
Conduct spatial assessments of forest biomass, biodiversity, hydrology and topography
Data analysis, Report writing, and other project collaterals
Literature review on related topics and any other research tasks assigned by IORA (desk-based)
Desired Qualifications, Skills, And Experience completed or pursuing Masters degree in Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing GIS, Environmental Studies, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Planning, or related disciplines from a reputed university/institute
Candidate should have experience working with geospatial software/ Platforms including ArcGIS, Erdas Imagine, Google Earth Engine
Basic understanding of spatial data formats (e g, shapefiles, GeoTIFF) and database management
Experience with programming languages such as Python or R for geospatial analysis would be an advantage
Candidate should have ecological or forestry understanding
Should be versed with MS Office (Doc, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) and statistical software
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to coordinate with different state government officials
