We have Opening Quality Engineer in Chennai Location.

Overall Experience: 6 to 10 Years

Work Location: Chennai

Notice Period: 30 Days

Educational: Under Graduate/Post Graduate in Engineering (Preferred in Mechanical / Automobile / Mechatronics Engineering)

Relevant Experience: automobile domain of design, development and Quality Engineering functions

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Quality Engineering in the forward chain
• R&D Quality improvement of DTA for new Project/Product/Series Production
• Reporting development quality information to R&D Management for new Projects/Products
• Tracking and reporting Project Quality Engineering deliverable status and Risks in project meeting (eg. Technical reviews) for new Projects

Failure Management:

• Establish a Failure management strategy for Products & Projects
• Review failure documentation and Challenge technical solutions across all functions
• Responsibility for preventive failure management in the product creation phase of the new projects and derivation of actions in collaboration with Engineering/ Testing.
• Issue tracking - Follow-up and report generation for issues arising during proto build and testing
• Regular interaction and follow up with Cross Function Team to track the progress.
• Preparing and facilitating Zeus turn table for projects
• Responsibility on Concept evaluation, weak point analysis, failure rate estimation & R&D field failures monitoring.

DFMEA & Risk Management:

• Coordination of Risk Assessment Process (Conducting selection analysis for Design-FMEAs, moderating System-FMEAs, optimization/action tracking and validation of results and Design-FMEAs).
• Knowledge on Boundary, P-diagram & Interface diagram Perform Risk analysis, Risk mitigation and Risk management for the Project/Product
• Knowledge on DFMEA process (AIAG-VDA manual) & DFMEA tools (IQFMEA)
• Ensure the link between Vehicle, System & component with clear understanding of Failure Effect, Failure Mode, Failure Cause & Actions, FMEA moderation with stake holders, Emphasize Risk based thinking, Ensure the transparency in risk, mitigation, Controls and Monitoring effectiveness

Reliability Management:

• Product Lifetime / Product Reliability concept and Process knowledge
• Knowledge on different Reliability growth approaches Repairable system (NHPP), Non Repairable system (Weibull)
• Reliability Target setting Target lifetime and Target Failure rate from Predecessors performance and Project scope
• Reliability Test planning Component/System/Vehicle levels against Potential Reliability/Durability Failure modes, Target failure rate (Total test duration, No. of Samples, Duration per sample, Worse Case Criteria)
• Reliability Test Plan Effectiveness and Efficiency monitoring (Failure detection against test duration, Operational loss monitoring)

Product Safety & QMS Audits:

• Coordinate and perform MFA and Ds identification Safety Characteristics Identification and definition for Projects/Series to ensure as features for Production
• Product Safety coordinator for R&D. Represent R&D in forums and conduct Internal audits/assessments
• Product Safety awareness, Knowledge base preparation considering Daimler Internal Product Safety policy and local body requirements & training to R&D colleagues
• R&D Quality Representative and involve in Internal and External Audits, Responsible for harmonizing the processes and methods within the R&D and in consultation with all Design functions
• Examining and assessing internal and external guidelines or changes to them in terms of their relevance for the department.

Technical Skills:

• Technical know-how of Entire Vehicle (Bus and Truck) & Functions
• Knowledge on Powertrain & Vehicle EE Architectures
• Experience with Product Development Life Cycle for automotive domain
• Knowledge of Customer business, Operations, Applications and Customer Expectations, Operating Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of truck and Buses Know-how
• Product Lifetime / Product Reliability concept and Process knowledge
• Know-how on different Reliability growth approaches Repairable system (NHPP), Non Repairable system (Weibull), Knowledge on R&D-Quality, QMS, Problem solving tools
• Added Knowledge on Warranty cost planning and monitoring at Project phase, Knowledge on Requirement Specification process, Reliability Engineering & Product Safety.
• Familiar with APQP, QFD, PPAP, FMEA, PDCA, Six Sigma, RCA, 7QC & G8D
• Must be well versed in MS office tools
