Network Engineer
The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting network systems and infrastructures to ensure efficient and secure data communication. This role involves working with hardware, software, and network security protocols to optimize network performance and maintain seamless connectivity across an organization.

Key Responsibilities :

• Network Design and Implementation : Design, implement, and configure local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other network systems, ensuring optimal network performance and scalability.
• Network Configuration : Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking hardware, ensuring proper connectivity and security across all network layers.
• Network Monitoring : Continuously monitor network traffic, performance, and health using network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG) to ensure smooth operations and identify potential issues before they cause disruptions.
• Troubleshooting and Support : Provide troubleshooting support for network issues, diagnosing and resolving problems related to hardware, software, or configuration errors.
• Security Management : Implement and maintain network security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and encryption technologies to safeguard network data and prevent unauthorized access.
• Network Maintenance : Perform regular network maintenance tasks, including firmware upgrades, patches, and system optimizations to improve network efficiency and security.
• Collaboration : Work closely with system administrators, security teams, and other IT professionals to ensure network infrastructure aligns with organizational goals and integrates with other IT systems.
• Capacity Planning : Analyze network traffic and usage patterns to anticipate future network requirements and help plan for capacity expansions or upgrades.
• Documentation : Maintain up-to-date documentation for network configurations, topologies, and troubleshooting procedures to ensure accurate records and continuity of service.
• Disaster Recovery : Develop and test disaster recovery plans related to network infrastructure to minimize downtime in case of a system failure or disaster.
• User Support : Provide network-related technical support to internal teams and end-users, resolving connectivity issues and ensuring reliable communication systems.
• Performance Optimization : Identify and implement strategies for optimizing network performance, such as load balancing, traffic shaping, and bandwidth allocation.
• Compliance : Ensure network infrastructure complies with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001) and is regularly audited.

Skills and Qualifications :

• Educational Background : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or CompTIA Network+ are preferred.
• Network Protocols : Strong understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, VPN, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
• Networking Hardware : Hands-on experience with networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points.
• Network Security : Proficiency in implementing network security measures, including VPNs, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and encryption technologies to safeguard data transmission.
• Troubleshooting : Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose network issues, including using tools like ping, traceroute, and packet analyzers (e.g., Wireshark).
• Cloud Networking : Familiarity with cloud networking and services (e.g., AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Networks) to support cloud-based infrastructure and hybrid environments.
• Virtualization : Experience with network virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware NSX, Cisco ACI) to improve scalability and flexibility in the network environment.
• Automation Tools : Knowledge of network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python scripts) to improve network management and reduce manual intervention.
• Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders and document network configurations and procedures.
• Project Management : Ability to manage network-related projects, including installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting tasks, while meeting deadlines and ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Time Management : Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize multiple tasks, manage competing deadlines, and provide support in high-pressure situations.

Desirable Skills :

• Cloud Certification : Cloud network certifications, such as AWS Certified Advanced Networking or Microsoft Certified: Azure Networking, are a plus.
• Wireless Networking : Knowledge of wireless network technologies (Wi-Fi 6, WAP configuration) for designing and implementing wireless solutions.
• Software-Defined Networking (SDN) : Familiarity with SDN concepts and technologies to manage and automate network operations.
• VoIP : Experience in configuring and supporting Voice over IP (VoIP) systems and ensuring their integration with the corporate network.
• Network Design : Experience with network design and architecture, ensuring that networks are scalable, secure, and cost-effective.
