Legal Manager

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal collection processes, experience with execution petitions, knowledge of Section 17 & 9 execution, and the ability to handle cases involving legal actions against defaulters.

You will be responsible for coordinating with law firms, ensuring timely legal proceedings, and managing the entire legal collections process to safeguard the company's assets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Legal Collections Management:
   
• Oversee the legal collection process for vehicles, including managing the legal actions required to recover vehicles from defaulters.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely and effective execution of collection efforts.
• Review collection cases and provide guidance on legal options available, such as repossession, litigation, or settlement negotiations.

2. Liaison with Law Firms:

• Build and maintain relationships with external law firms specializing in legal collections.
• Manage the process of engaging law firms, ensuring they are effectively executing on collection efforts.
• Regularly review and monitor the performance of law firms handling legal collection.

3. Execution of Legal Proceedings:

• Understand and ensure compliance with Section 17 and Section 9 of the relevant laws governing vehicle repossession and collection actions.
• Draft, review, and file execution petitions with the appropriate authorities and courts.
• Follow up on execution petitions and ensure timely enforcement of court orders.

4. Litigation and Dispute Resolution:

• Manage and oversee any legal disputes arising from vehicle collections, including litigation and out-of-court settlements.
• Represent the companys interests in legal proceedings related to vehicle recovery and collection cases.
• Provide legal advice to internal teams on strategies to mitigate legal risks and disputes.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of legal actions, agreements, and case outcomes.
• Provide regular reports to senior management on the status of ongoing legal collections and litigation.
• Ensure that all legal documentation related to vehicle collections is properly prepared, filed, and compliant with applicable laws.

6. Legal Compliance and Risk Management:

• Ensure compliance with all applicable legal frameworks, including consumer protection laws, repossession regulations, and execution procedures.
• Identify and manage any legal risks related to collections and take proactive measures to mitigate such risks.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education:
  
• LLB (Bachelor of Laws) or equivalent legal qualification.
• Additional certifications in financial, commercial, or collection law would be a plus.
• Experience:
  
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in legal collections, preferably in the vehicle finance.
• Proven experience with legal collections processes, including handling repossession cases and execution petitions.
• Strong knowledge of Section 17 & Section 9 execution procedures, along with practical experience of handling them.
