Legal Manager

Position Overview:

The Legal Department is responsible for managing and overseeing the company's legal affairs, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and mitigating risks associated with legal disputes. The team provides guidance on legal matters to various departments, handles litigation, drafts and reviews contracts, and manages relationships with external legal counsel.

Role & responsibilities:

• Handling Litigation Matters:
• Represent the company in any local, District, High Courts across India, or the Supreme Court for legal matters filed by or against the company.
• Manage labor law-related matters with the Labour Commissioner or Labour Court.
• Handle stock exchange or depository arbitration-related cases.
• Manage matters filed in consumer courts or before judicial/quasi-judicial authorities.
• Legal Opinions:
• Provide expert legal opinions on issues or seek advice from law firms for organizational and functional matters when required.
• Contract Management:
• Draft and vet contracts and agreements with third parties, including SLAs with vendors and other business arrangements.
• External Counsel Coordination:
• Engage and coordinate with external lawyers and counsels as necessary.
• Disciplinary Action & Fraud Management:
• Propose disciplinary actions for cases of employee non-conformity such as misconduct or fraud.
• Legal Updates & Compliance:
• Monitor changes in laws, regulations, and legal provisions. Ensure management is informed of amendments impacting company policies or processes.
• Policy Management:
• Assist in the management and implementation of certain company policies.
• Senior Management Reporting:
• Prepare and present legal updates and reports to senior management, committees, and forums.
• Special Areas of Focus:

Manage cases related to fraud management, POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) issues, and whistleblower incidents.

Qualifications:

• LLB from a recognized university; additional certifications in arbitration or other legal specializations are an advantage.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

• 8-10 years of relevant legal experience, particularly in litigation and compliance.

Experience within the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) industry is preferred
