Job Overview : A Stock Clerk is responsible for managing and organizing inventory within a retail store, warehouse, or distribution center. They ensure that products are stocked, displayed, and accessible for customers, and they play a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy of stock levels, managing inventory replenishment, and supporting daily operations. The Stock Clerk may also assist with receiving deliveries, labeling products, and ensuring that stock areas are clean and safe.
Key Responsibilities :
Inventory Management :
Receive, unpack, and verify merchandise against delivery documentation.
Inspect products for damage or discrepancies and report them to the supervisor.
Stock shelves, racks, or bins with merchandise in an organized manner.
Rotate stock based on expiration dates or stock levels to ensure first-in, first-out (FIFO) methods are followed.
Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure stock levels are accurate.
Assist with inventory counts and updating stock records in inventory management systems.
Product Organization & Maintenance :
Ensure products are displayed properly and are easy for customers to access.
Replenish stock levels on the sales floor based on demand and restocking schedules.
Clean and organize shelves, storage areas, and backrooms to maintain a safe and tidy work environment.
Customer Assistance :
Assist customers in locating products when needed.
Provide product information and stock availability to customers or other store personnel.
Receiving & Shipping :
Assist with the unloading and distribution of incoming deliveries.
Sort and label merchandise appropriately to ensure ease of access and prevent mix-ups.
Prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy in packing, labeling, and documentation.
Safety & Compliance :
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including proper lifting techniques and handling of hazardous materials.
Report any unsafe conditions or security issues to management.
Follow company policies regarding inventory control and product handling.
Collaboration & Communication :
Work closely with supervisors, sales staff, and other team members to coordinate restocking and inventory management tasks.
Communicate stock discrepancies or low inventory to the appropriate personnel.
