Overview
An experienced accountant specializing in balance sheet reconciliations within a banking environment, you will be integral to maintaining the financial integrity and accuracy of the bank's financial statements. Key Responsibilities

• Balance Sheet Reconciliation:
• Execute comprehensive monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Conduct detailed reviews of general ledger accounts, cross-verifying with supporting documentation to identify and address discrepancies.
• Investigate and resolve variances promptly, ensuring all adjustments are documented and comply with the bank's policies.
• Maintain meticulous records of reconciliation activities, ensuring a transparent audit trail for future reference.
• Support management reporting by providing detailed analysis and insights into balance sheet accounts.
• Proficiency in any of the balance sheet recon platforms viz. Blackline / Trintech Cadency / onestream / Smartstream TLM
• Data Analysis:
• Perform in-depth analysis of financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential risks impacting the bank's financial health.
• Deliver insights and recommendations to management, supporting strategic decision-making processes.
• Leverage advanced Excel functions and financial software to enhance data analysis and reporting efficiency.
• Compliance and Controls:
• Ensure all reconciliations adhere to the bank's internal controls and comply with external regulatory requirements.
• Actively participate in internal and external audits, providing comprehensive documentation and explanations as required.
• Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures to strengthen the reconciliation process and internal controls.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Engage with colleagues across finance, operations, and other departments to gather necessary information for reconciliation processes.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to address and resolve any issues related to financial discrepancies.
• Present findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.

Qualifications

• Part qualified accountant with affiliation to a recognized accounting body (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
• Robust understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and banking operations.
• Proven experience in balance sheet reconciliations within a banking or financial services context.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with acute attention to detail.
