Knowledge of the characteristics, growth habits and proper cultivation of a wide selection of vegetable plants and flowering bulbs, annuals, biennials and perennial plant materials, including both herbaceous and woody plants.
Knowledge of the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers, soil conditioners and pest control methods and materials.
Ability to manage gardening staff, give instructions and get work done
Ability to plan and prioritize tasks, maintain schedule and manage projects varying from 1 day to 6 months
Familiar with drip irrigation, rainwater harvesting, living wall/ vertical wall creation, hydroponics etc
Should be able to help the Landscape Designer in determining the planting scheme
Should be willing to travel within the city on a daily basis to monitor projects
Role and Responsibilities:
Designs, installs, and maintains annual and perennial beds, grass, shrubbery and trees.
Supervises and directs grounds personnel by establishing schedules, assigning tasks, monitoring and reviewing projects to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
Instructs on the application of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers and records the application of pesticides and maintains a record of the stock
Plans unit activities and decides priorities; assists in implementing policies and procedures and enforcing rules and regulations.
Confers with others in the industry about new plants and ideas.
Maintains the cleanliness of assigned areas
Decides on the planting scheme for Landscape Designing
