Job Title: Fire Safety Technician / Officer

Job Summary: Graphic Era Institute of Medical Sciences is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Safety Head to oversee and manage fire safety protocols, procedures, and systems within the institution.

The Fire Safety Head will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive fire prevention and emergency response programs to ensure the safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire safety management, regulatory compliance, and emergency preparedness, with the ability to effectively lead and coordinate fire safety initiatives across the institution.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop, implement, and enforce fire safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in compliance with local, state, and national fire codes, regulations, and standards.
2. Conduct regular inspections and audits of campus facilities, buildings, and infrastructure to identify fire hazards, deficiencies, and non-compliance issues.
3. Collaborate with relevant departments, including facilities management, security, and environmental health and safety, to address fire safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
4. Coordinate fire safety training and education programs for faculty, staff, and students to raise awareness, promote fire prevention practices, and ensure proper response to fire emergencies.
5. Conduct fire drills, evacuation exercises, and tabletop simulations to test and evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response procedures and evacuation plans.
6. Maintain accurate records of fire safety inspections, training activities, incident reports, and compliance documentation for regulatory agencies and accreditation purposes.
7. Manage and oversee the installation, maintenance, and testing of fire detection, alarm, suppression, and extinguishing systems, including fire sprinklers, smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers.
8. Develop and maintain partnerships with local fire departments, emergency responders, and community agencies to facilitate mutual aid, emergency response coordination, and information sharing.
9. Serve as the primary point of contact for fire safety-related inquiries, reports, and investigations, and provide timely and accurate responses to stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
10. Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in fire safety management, codes, and regulations, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
2. Professional certification in fire safety strongly preferred.
3. Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in fire safety management, including experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
4. Thorough knowledge of fire codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices, including NFPA, IFC, and OSHA requirements.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess fire risks, analyze complex situations, and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
6. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
7. Proficiency in conducting fire safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments, and interpreting technical documents, plans, and specifications.
8. Familiarity with fire safety equipment, systems, and technologies, including fire alarms, suppression systems, and emergency evacuation systems.
9. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
