Senior Mechanical Engineer (Equipment Procurement & Integration)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Global Engineering Center team to execute International and Local projects in India. The ideal candidate will have 10 years of relevant experience, with a preference for those who have worked in an EPC environment, international project experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of water and wastewater treatment plants (WTP/ETP/STP/WWTP/Desal) including the selection, sizing, and integration of pumps, compressors, blowers, heat exchangers, dewatering devices, and other mechanical components (excluding tanks and pressure vessels).
• Ensure seamless integration of mechanical components into the overall treatment system.
• Prepare technical specifications for mechanical equipment and support procurement by collaborating with vendors to secure the required components. Evaluate equipment proposals and provide recommendations based on technical specifications and budget.
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications for equipment and material selection.
• Create and maintain equipment lists, datasheets for components, valves, and other associated documents.
• Review and approve drawings and documents from vendors to ensure alignment with project requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Process, Civil/Structural, Piping, and Instrumentation Engineers, to ensure a comprehensive engineering design.
• Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely project execution within the defined budget and man-hours.
• Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and progress assessments to ensure that project objectives are achieved.
• Perform engineering calculations to evaluate the performance and reliability of mechanical systems and offer technical solutions to optimize system performance.
• Ensure all designs and installations comply with industry standards, codes, and best practices. Conduct quality control reviews to maintain design integrity and safety.
• Cost estimation: Collaborate with project teams to prepare cost estimates for mechanical components and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications and Requirements

Formal Education

• Required: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Preferred: Postgraduate education or certifications in relevant mechanical engineering fields.

Knowledge & Experience

• Required: Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, specifically in water and/or wastewater treatment systems.
• Preferred: Experience working in an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) environment and exposure to international projects.

Technical/Skill Requirements

• Required:
  
• Familiarity with industrial standards such as ANSI, ASME, API, etc.
• Strong understanding of mechanical components and equipment used in water and wastewater treatment systems.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

• Expertise in handling project-specific software tools for mechanical design and project management.

Travel Requirements

• Travel requirements for this role are minimal (0-10%) and may include occasional site visits.
