About the role
As a Manufacturing Head, you will oversee and manage all aspects of the production process at a dairy manufacturing facility. This role includes ensuring the efficient operation of dairy production lines, maintaining product quality, managing staff, adhering to regulatory standards, optimising production processes and controlling costs. This role will also be key in driving improvements in production efficiency and capacity while aligning with the company’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the dairy manufacturing plant, ensuring smooth and efficient production processes
- Manage the production schedule, ensuring timely and efficient production of dairy products
- Monitor the production flow to identify bottlenecks and ensure product quality and adherence to safety and hygiene standards
2. Quality control and compliance:
- Ensure quality standards and comply with regulations like FSSAI
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to implement and monitor quality control systems
- Maintain records and documentation related to product testing, audits and regulatory compliance
- Ensure the plant follows GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) guidelines
3. Cost management and budgeting:
- Monitor production costs and identify opportunities for cost reductions without compromising quality
- Manage manufacturing budget, including raw material procurement, labour costs and production overheads
- Analyse production performance and propose improvements in efficiency and cost-effectiveness
4. Team leadership and development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production supervisors, operators and support staff
- Set performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development opportunities
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, focusing on employee engagement and retention
5. Process optimisation:
- Continuously evaluate manufacturing processes and workflows to drive improvements in productivity, safety and cost efficiency
- Lead initiatives for plant optimisation, including the introduction of new technologies, automation, or lean manufacturing practices
- Analyse data to identify areas for process optimisation, product yield enhancement and waste reduction
6. Health and safety:
- Ensure that all manufacturing operations adhere to health, safety and environmental standards
- Promote a safety culture and ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations (OSHA or equivalent)
- Conduct regular safety audits, investigations and implement corrective actions as needed
7. Reporting and analytics:
- Provide regular reports on production performance, quality metrics and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to senior management
- Analyse production data to assess trends, performance, and areas for improvement
8. Sustainability initiatives:
- Promote sustainable manufacturing practices, including energy efficiency, waste reduction and environmental impact mitigation
- Lead initiatives to reduce water and energy consumption, improve waste management and explore sustainable sourcing practices
