OverView :

School Doctor plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and wellness of students and staff within the school community. Their responsibilities include providing medical care for illnesses and injuries, conducting regular health check-ups for specific grades, and maintaining accurate health records, including immunizations and BMI assessments.

Has to ensure the clinic is well-equipped, manage vaccination programs, monitor student absenteeism due to health issues, and develop personalized health plans for students with chronic conditions or allergies.

The School Doctor adheres to compliance standards by facing ISO audits, DHA & KHDA inspections, and attending professional training programs like BLS and ACLS.

Additionally, they collaborate with school authorities to implement health policies, lead wellness initiatives, conduct health education sessions, and supervise nursing staff, contributing to a safe, healthy, and informed school environment.

Responsibility :

  1. Examine all student & staff who are unwell in the campus. Treat injuries & minor illnesses.
  2. Conducting comprehensive medical examinations for all new students and grade 1, grade 4, grade7 and grade 10 students.
  3. Maintaining school health records and Immunization records of all the students updated.
  4. Records in the clinic are accurately updated and maintained for Students & Staff.
  5. Inventory Management - Ensure all necessary medical supplies are present in the Sick Bay area at all times.
  6. Ensure all medical apparatus are in working condition at all times.
  7. Maintaining BMI records of students and giving health advice for students who are obese, overweight and underweight. 
  8. Yearly updating and maintaining list of students with allergies and informing their supervisors and respective class teachers.
  9. Monitoring the rate of student absenteeism due to health-related issues. Follow up on students who are on recommended treatments or referrals.
  10. Conducting vaccination program in school in each term.
  11. Facing ISO audits, DHA & KHDA inspections Ensuring yearly CME points are maintained for yearly Medical license renewal.
  12. Attending BLS and ACLS trainings for upgradation and DHA compliance.
  13. Reviewing policies and ensuring implementation of all mandated policies and protocols in collaboration with school's administrative authorities and school personnel in compliance with DHA.
  14. Submit reports to SHS, PHPD in a timely manner.
  15. Develop, assess, plan and implement Individualized Health Care Plan (IHCP) and Emergency Health Care Plan (EHCP) for children with chronic illnesses and children with allergies.
  16. Number of initiatives taken to promote overall health and wellness within the school community
  17. Number of health education sessions conducted for students, teachers, and the school community
  18. To be part of Health & Safety, Child protection & infection control team
  19. Supervising and guiding nurses in their duties 

SkillsDescription :

Medical Assessment & Treatment

  • Proficient in conducting medical assessments, diagnosing minor illnesses, and treating injuries for students and staff on campus.
  • Skilled in administering first aid and providing immediate medical attention in emergencies.

Health Screening & Examinations

  • Expertise in performing comprehensive medical examinations for students as per grade requirements (e.g., Grade 1, 4, 7, and 10).
  • Knowledge of maintaining and interpreting Body Mass Index (BMI) records and providing tailored health advice.

Record Management

  • Experienced in maintaining accurate and up-to-date health records for students and staff, including immunization, medical history, and allergies.
  • Proficient in monitoring student absenteeism due to health-related issues and following up on recommended treatments or referrals.

Inventory & Equipment Management

  • Adept at managing medical supplies inventory to ensure the availability of necessary items in the clinic.
  • Skilled in maintaining and ensuring the functionality of medical apparatus.

Health Education & Wellness Programs

  • Competent in planning and conducting health education sessions for students, teachers, and the school community to promote overall wellness.
  • Initiates and supports health campaigns and vaccination programs to enhance the school community's health standards.

Compliance & Policy Implementation

  • Experienced in adhering to and implementing health policies and protocols in line with SPEA, DHA, KHDA, and ISO standards.
  • Proficient in preparing for and facing audits and inspections by regulatory bodies.

Emergency Care Planning

  • Skilled in developing and executing Individualized Health Care Plans (IHCP) and Emergency Health Care Plans (EHCP) for students with chronic illnesses or allergies.

Professional Development & Training

  • Committed to maintaining professional competencies through Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and other Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs.
  • Knowledgeable in health and safety protocols, child protection measures, and infection control practices.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Experienced in supervising and guiding nursing staff in their duties.
  • Active member of the Health & Safety, Child Protection, and Infection Control teams, contributing to a secure and healthy school environment.

Administrative & Reporting Skills

  • Proficient in preparing and submitting timely reports to regulatory authorities such as SHS and PHPD.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with administrative authorities and school personnel in ensuring the successful implementation of health protocols.
