Head of Database Services

1. Leads Database Services.
2. Accountable for pre-sales, project intake and estimation.
3. Work closely with the client as regards delivery approach conception, methodology and eventual delivery.
4. Accountable for the DBA technical leadership from project initiation to delivery.
5. Ensures that appropriate organization, governance, decision making, and delivery structures are in place to drive outcomes articulated in the business case, business requirements, and program/project charter.
6. Ensures that standard and best practice for Database Services are adopted.
7. Lead and mentor a team of DBAs and serve as an escalation point for delivery issues.
8. Perform regular delivery risk reviews and support the project teams with escalations and resolutions as required.
9. Handles vendor contracting and management.
10. Ensure delivery meets high quality standards.
Primary Skills: 1. Hands-On DBA.
2. Must have worked with MS SQL, Oracle and MySQL RDBMS.
Secondary Skills: 1. Experience working in Lean / Agile / Scrum methodologies for enterprise IT delivery.
2. Managing and developing high performing project teams
Soft Skills: 1. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively negotiate with senior stakeholders.
